Serving good, basic meals for more than 20 years, this tiny eatery across from the ocean is a Kitty Hawk standby well-known among locals. The food here isn't fancy, but it's inexpensive, filling, and all-American.
Sausage gravy is the most popular breakfast entree, although Art's also serves eggs, pancakes, and biscuits. The same entrees are available for lunch and dinner, along with daily specials such as fish, steaks, fried chicken, shrimp, clam strips, and cheeseburgers-all served with french fries, coleslaw, and a cucumber and onion salad.
Jalapeno poppers are a hot bet for an appetizer, and calamari is available most of the time. Art's is open seven days a week year-round. Reservations are accepted but not necessary.

This was a nice place before the fire that gutted it and they had a huge burger back then. The last time I was there it had gone up in price, down in quality. At least they don't smoke in there anymore.
Great Place! 3/24/2009 Reviewer: Cheryl from Virginia
Every time I go to the Outer Banks, I make a point to stop to eat at Art's Place. I find the burgers to be extremely abundant for one person to eat and the home made fries are great. The restaurant was good to start with but with the new management, it is wonderful. I tell all my friends in Virginia about it and they stop in when they are there. Great place.

My family and I stumbled onto Art's Place by chance and it's the luckiest find we've had on the beach. Art's Place is THE place for a reasonable priced menu (at least before the fire) and fantastic food to go with it. The breakfast and hamburgers aren't to be beat on the beach... and the dinners are quite good! A definite must-eat place when on the Outer Banks.

This is an old local hangout that had a kitchen fire last year and has since been all redone. Nice, bright and NON-SMOKING. The later will make me go back. The place is known for it's huge burger, but sadly the burger has suffered from the times and is not much bigger than most $5 burgers in size. The food is good but expensive for what you get.
