Good but not great 9/28/2009

Maybe living here has me spoiled since I make a lot of my own seafood, I don't think the place was exceptional but it was good. We went there with another couple who were visiting. We all ordered seafood, liked what we had but have had better.
The negative was we ordered a picther of beer and it was warm. We told the waitress who appologised and said they were having cooler problems. I would've thought we would've been told this upfront or offered not to charge us for the beer but they didn't.

we ate here in early sept. 2009. it is decidedly one of the more upscale restaurants on hatteras island, and probably a bit pricier than some others, but i loved my meal. i had the special - grilled swordfish oscar @ $35. - most of the entrees are priced in the $20 range tho. the soup of the day was also wonderful, a creamy crab bisque with mushrooms & asparagus.
the only thing my group didn't like was that the broiler had "broken" that day - hence the food we ordered that was offered broiled or fried, had to be ordered fried. we kind of wished that we had been informed before we sat...oh well, the food was wonderful anyway. i imagine the broiler is now back in working order. i understand that these things can't be immediately addressed on a barrier island. this is the only reason i gave a 4-star instead of 5-star review.

Just OK 7/28/2009

Was there for our 30th wedding anniversary July 13. I thought the food was just OK. For the price, a dinner salad should have been included as well. Went online and the menu page did not indicate this. As a previous poster stated, buy from Risky's and cook your own.

not so much... 12/16/2006

Pretentious atmosphere and ambitious menu that unfortunately are NOT matched by any real care or competence in the kitchen. Do yourself a favor and buy the incredibly fresh fish at the fish market downstairs, take it home, and cook it yourself. Paying this restaurant high prices to serve badly-prepared food is silly. Very disappointing.
