1 pound of good linguini
1 doz little neck clams in shell, well scrubbed and desanded (optional)
Can of chopped clams
1/2 cup white wine
1 clove garlic, chopped
Italian seasoning or fresh basil and oregano
Cook linguini as directed on package.
Saute garlic in oil until soft, do not burn.
add wine, herbs and juice from clams
Add little neck clams if using and steam till open. Remove and set aside covered to keep warm.
Add chopped clams and cook till warm
Add splash of heavy cream and parmesan to taste.
Serve over pasta, put little necks around edge of bowl if using and serve.
An adaptation of my Moms recipie, I added the cream and parmesan to thicken the sauce and add body
