We were lucky last week to finally enjoy one of the best crab cake sandwiches served anywhere. Along with a Fat Tire it was a perfect lunch.

If you go no where else while visiting the Outer Banks, you absolutely must go to Tortuga's Lie and order either the Fish Tacos (tons of large chunks of mahi) or the Fish and Black Bean Burrito (stuffed with perfectly cooked tuna!). Seriously....go right now! Log off the computer and go! :-)

In summer, we usually stay in a house that's very close to Tortuga's. one member of our party goes there on a daily basis!! We all love it. Fabulous food (I am partial to the appetizers) and great atmosphere.

We have been coming here for 10 years and it is our family's favorite. I like it because you always get something you cannot get at home. Coco Loco chicken is my favorite and this year we were lucky enough to be there on the evening they had Chicken Tortilla soup - yum!

tortuga's lover from the beginning!!! 8/28/2008

My kids have grown up with beach trips to Nags Head and the OBX. 30+ years now. Once I found Tortugas it became a priority to eat there every time we visited the beach on vacation. Now it is not just one of my required stops, but my 3 kids and their families have inherited their dads craving for the super food, friendly beach road atmosphere, homemade key lime pie and ice cold Coronas. Please stay the way you are. Every time I think of the Outer Banks I think of Tortuga,s and I smile. In case you didn't catch my message the food and memories are outstanding!

Food was AWESOME! My husband and I ate there 2x in 2 days on a weekend trip to the Outer Banks. The Bajan burger is the best burger I've ever had, hands down. Try this on your next trip, you won't be dissapointed.

Great food, great beer, great hot sauce (pick up a bottle or two when you're there), and good service. It's no wonder there's usually a wait to get in.

A place not to be missed 7/23/2007
Reviewer: Bar Patron from Richmond, Va
|
Never dissapointed in the customer service, food and price. Small place with great atmosphere, very relaxed vibe. From burgers to pasta most everyone can find something on the menu to eat. Good portions and always piping hot. Even better that Tortugas' has gone all non-smoking, can taste the food even better now. They will continue to have my business! Big parties expect to be broken up not a very big place. Get there early as to avoid the long waits.

A family favorite 10/26/2004
Reviewer: Mary-Ohio from Massillon, Ohio

Fabulous burgers, crabcake sandwiches and probably the biggest crab legs around. We love Tortuga's! Wait staff is fun, great kidders, really interact with the customer. Prices are average, not to high in my book. Portions are big. Great selection of beers. Not real big inside, but definately worth the wait.

Fresh Seafood Galore 1/21/2004
Reviewer: Sloan from Akron, Ohio

The grilled tuna wrap sandwich with an app. of chile chicken wings are the best. Stop here for your first OBX meal, then stop at Hotdogger's Surf n Cafe just north of the Wright Memorial Bridge for a great meal when leaving OBX. It's a hole-in-the-wall place just like Tortuga's

Great and Interesting Apps 11/25/2003
Reviewer: roc-obx from Kill Devil Hills

Visited yesterday (11/24) for lunch and decided to try a couple of appetizers from their menu. Their hummus is to die for, and the white pizza is outstanding. Hubby had to try their tuna sausage, which was declared "very interesting" and very good. Seems there weren't too many places open on the beach road on Monday afternoon, but have learned Tortuga's will remain open through the off-season this year. Good news!!
