Newest Trivia Pursuit

One of my hobbies is seeing what I can create out of materials that I get for free. I have posted some of my stuff previously but this one was a lot more time consuming than anything I've made before. First I picked up dozens of the thousands of pine cones that the lawn service ends up raking up and hauling off every year. Then I cut each one in sections to form "flowers" for a spring wreath. This took forever because the only tool I had available was a pair of pruning shears and the interior of each big cone was like a very thick tough twig that was almost more than the shears could handle. Determined not to buy anything I'd never use again, I persevered and finally had enough cut to consider painting them. I gave in here and with a lot of online browsing finally found a leftover stocking stuffer, a nail polish 12 bottle kit, at a clearance price. The tiny brushes proved just the ticket for painting each blossom. This time I'm not able to say this project was completely cost free and I probably won't be slicing pine cones into sections again anytime soon but I'm pretty pleased with the results. Some of us are very easily amused until flip flop weather returns

RE: Newest Trivia Pursuit

That looks GREAT and is a very cool idea for pine cones. I don't think I or my wife would have the patience to do this, but it turned out awesome.

RE: Newest Trivia Pursuit

Very nicely done. Tedious work but now the pine cones sure look like zinnias in full bloom on your door. Thanks for the picture. Red rose Red rose Red rose

Dang girl, you’re really thinking outside of the box. Who would ever conceive of this geometric analytical design of a pinecone >>> flower?....I think I’m clever if I spray paint em and glue them in a wreath...you know...”same ole, same ole”. And then I see your creation, and I am humbled. MM would have said “keep on chooglin’”.
