We like Duck Pizza and Souee BBQ in Scarborough Faire, and Duck Deli...Blue Point is a wonderful restaurant by the sound, on the beautiful boardwalk... lots of great choices to explore in Duck! We’ll be there in September. I think you’ll love Duck!

Coastal Cravings, Wave Pizza (excellent pizza!) and Tulios Bakery are always on our list. Dockside N Duck (seafood market) has everything needed for a seafood feast at your rental.

The Paper Canoe in North Duck, The Roadside Bar and Grill in Duck and The Lifesaving Station at The Sanderling.

Lots of good places to eat in Duck. After dinner be sure to take a walk on the sound side boardwalk. Great sunsets, and a truly magical experience. We love Coastal Cravings, and Roadside grill. ,.. Coastal Cantina is great during the summer.

Not to be redundant.....for that special dining night out try The Blue Point on the sound in "downtown" Duck or The Paper Canoe, also right on the sound, up in the Sanderling neighborhood of Duck. Both are pricey but excellent.

Great cuts of meat, seafood, breads, specialty foods, and good assortment of beers and wine can be found at Tommy's Market right in downtown Duck. For everyday staples check out Winks.

Walk along the Duck soundfront boardwalk which basically runs adjacent the entire business section of Duck. Wonderful at anytime, but sunset is special.

Curious....for your first 30 years....where did you stay?

We usually stay in Rodanthe. Last October we stayed in Nags Head....but turned out to be the worst trip ever. Not because it was in Nags Head...it was because of the house we rented. It was the most expensive house we have rented and the worst. We ended up leaving on Wednesday instead of the following Sunday. We usually come down two or three times a year. I love the OBX!!! Looking forward to seeing everything Duck has to offer. We've rented a eight bedroom oceanfront house and can't wait.

For lunch, also check out Coastal Cantina which is along the northern section of boardwalk (north of water tower). I am especially fond of their Crab Pizzadias. Ditto Blue Point for that special dinner. And (shameless promotion coming here) if you do get to that section of boardwalk, stop in to Yellowhouse/SeaDragon and say hi! Yellowhouse will be right next door to Coastal Cantina. And even if you don't, do walk the boardwalk for sunset at least once. Really is special.

May is also my favorite time of year to ride the beach at Carova (north of Corolla, where the wild horses share their existence with residents and summer visitors). You need true 4wd and air way down...or take one of the several excellent tours. OBC's own Rick Romano (Surfpainter) gives a great tour with Corolla Outback Tours. Why May? The flies hatch out and tend to drive the horses to the ocean side of the barrier island on a west or southwest wind. I have lived here more than 40 years and I still get a thrill from seeing them. May is also a great month for Ghost Crabs! I saw more at dawn at the Sanderling last May, at one time, than I have ever seen before. Fun.

Sunset from boardwalk and May horse photo below!

A little spring stroll, showing the new foal the ocean in early May.

Sounds great!!! Can't wait. From what everyone is saying....I think we will have a great trip. I have another question....Do they allow beach fires in Duck? We did that in Rodanthe...but, wasn't sure if that is allowed in the Duck area.

Beach fires are nor allowed in Duck. Whereabouts in Duck are you staying?

I agree with all the suggestions that have been given but I would like to add Aqua Restaurant & Spa. They serve lunch & dinner. I have always had great service and good meals there and enjoy the sound view from the entire restaurant plus they have outside seating. A little expensive but nothing outrageous.

I read this thread earlier today and wondered why nobody mentioned Aqua. Great food and nice outdoor seating.

We are going to be staying at Camille's Landing. It says it on Bufflehead Road. We booked it through Carolina Designs Realty.
