Downburst Storm Pics from June 2 on the Blog

We had wild weather up in Duck last Saturday night as a downburst came roaring across the Sound from the west, while Pete reported nothing much happening at our house in Colington. Anyway, it was dramatic enough that I wanted to blog about it. With all the appropriate posts about ocean safety and watching out for rip currents, I just have to add, be equally weather-wise if you are taking a small boat or kayak/canoe out in the Sound. I have lived here all my adult life and seen plenty of squalls, but this one has the distinction of being the most powerful sudden squall I have ever watched roll in.

Here is one photo of its approach; more photos and details on the blog.

Wow! That is spectacular! Love it, and the one of the waves against the bulkhead as well.
