I plan a short visit to the Nags Head area next month to attempt to line up a job this season. Could some of you recommend two or three nice restaurants where the pay and tips might be good? I have some experience bartending so restaurants with nice bars , good food, and nice people would be appreciated. Thank you, Tatiana

Hi Tatiana and welcome! Tale of the Whale and Lone Cedar are both excellent restaurants with bars. Pay at any restaurant for waiting tables will be the same, 2 something an hour. Bartendars receive a higher wage plus tips from wait staff for percentage of bar drinks they served. Someplaces have a wine corking fee too. Tips at these 2 would be excellent! I worked at ToW for 9 years as a waitress and the Bibey's are wonderful folks to work for. I would suggest that you pickup a Coastland Times newspaper when you get here because there are so many good restaurants and the help wanted ads would be the best place to start. Good Luck!

You might want to try Blue Point and Elizabeth's in duck and Collington Cafe in Collington.

Also consider Kelly's, Penguine Isle and Tale of the Whale. They always have a lot of customers $$$$$.

If you want to find a great paying position it would behoove you to GET ON IT ASAP (as soon as possible). Spring Break has come & gone, that is when the best get scheduled in for later in May/June. My first waitress position on the OB was for somebody whom i'd already spent many years working for, but their manager of the Outer Banks location wanted to "meet me." Flew into NC & drove through a February snowstorm in 1983 just to say hello. It was well worth it! $$$$:smiley16:

Mike-Are you asking how many people were murdered in New York and Detroit during 2003 thru 2007? If so the answer is 5,000+ and not 4,000.

If I had to choose, one of the places I would appy with would be the Rundown Cafe in Kitty Hawk. It's a fun and relaxing place and the employees seem very happy and nice to the customers. And when we have ever gone there, it has never been nutsy crazy busy. Just my gut opinion. Take it for what it's worth :smiley40:

Yea! All the parents out there be considerate to the wait staff and consolidate the mess your kids leave as much as possible and tip a little extra. I typically leave an extra dollar for every fry dropped under the table:smiley40:.
