Good morning...

Been away for a bit having this baby 9 weeks early. He's doing great now though.

Was wondering if anyone on here has had any experiences renting more than one house as a group. My fiance an i are planning to get married down there next May and we're having a little trouble finding the bigger homes, 10+, with different realtors and we're considering renting 2 houses if we can get them next to each other.

Thanks!!!

What week in May are you looking at? Also do you have any special needs? Ocean front or does it matter? Pet friendly?

We have done this for years. We prefer it to one large house. Contact some of the rental companies or try google maps. We used to drive around in the old days. Lol!

Check in will be 05/11/13 thru 05/18/12, would like oceanfront if possible...no pets. No special needs that I can think of....would like a private pool and hot tub.

How many total people? How many bedrooms do you need?

If you are looking at Hatteras, you may want to check out the Inn on Pamlico Sound. Great place to stay or have your wedding/reception. I think they have 12 rooms - There are also some houses to rent nearby through different realty companies.

This is a really nice larger house in Hatteras. I would suggest working with Outer Beaches just because they will lock you into a rate now rather than having to wait until the new rates come out for some of the other companies at the first of the year. It is 8 bedrooms. Perhaps you could find another house nearby. Try calling OBR and see what they can find for you.

By the way congrats!!!

If you are considering Hatteras, try Durant Station. Oceanfront condos, 1-2-3 bedroom units. Awesome views of ocean and in early to mid-may they are less busy.

Also - Hatteras Realty has 4 oceanfront houses side by side in Frisco (6 - 8 bedrooms each):
Elftheria
Beagle by the Sea
Surfs Up
The Sunny Spot (only 4 bedrooms but adjacent to the others)

Good luck on your planning and Congratulations!!!!

This is our home:

http://www.joelambjr.com/rental/house.html?ID=107

The house next door is the mirror image of ours; different furnishings, and the last time I was in it, it had queens, rather than kings
I'll see if I can add the link to it.. but just in case, it is Joe lamb Jr., #117

http://www.joelambjr.com/rental/house.html?ID=108

I just read your dates. the guy who owns #117 usually does not rent until after Memorial day, but it you're interested, maybe someone from JLJ could call him to see if he would be willing to make an exception.

(yay, i did it!)

Twice now - we have had folks rent out all 6 units of our condo building. It may be a bit much (18 bedrooms).

If you have all of the units - the pool becomes private.

They both had the ceromony on the beach behind the bulding.

There are pictures from one of the weddings somewhere online.

Let me see if I can find them...

When we stayed in SNH we noticed a small cluster of cute yellow cottages, some OF. I think it was maybe 5 of them. They appeared to have one shared pool. I meant to go home and look them up but never did.

It just looked like a nice set up for a family reunion/vacation. Not too many details, I know. But just thought I'd mention them.

Siswalker - I think I've said this before, but I LOVE your home and the one next to it! They're in a fantastic location even though they're not oceanfront. We have stayed at 2 different homes on Poseidon St and 1 on Hallett just a few houses down and I always think about staying there. Sadly we have our dogs and I know you need to remain pet free. One of these days maybe we'll go without the dogs and add a few family members so we can. I would look into these DBK if I were you!

We did just that for our wedding in 2007 in Whalehead.

I knew the house I wanted to use for our wedding and basically stalked all of the rental company books and sites (they all weren't online then) to find the houses in the same block of the house. After stalking I ended up renting two other houses that were next door to each other from different realtors. Now that people list the addresses it's a bit easier to do but back then it was an adventure. I couldn't do one of the massive houses in Carova due to the 4x4 issues so I had to find different houses. I also didn't want to have my in laws all in the same house with me. LOL

It all worked out perfectly in the end and I'm glad everyone ended up near each other but not all in the same house. Everyone went back and forth but had their own places to go which was nice.

FWIW these are the houses we rented - Tequila Sunrise is oceanfront, the other are semi oceanfront (next door to one another) and we had them share the access that came with Sandpiper's Way. The semi-oceanfront homes were across the street and down a lot and a half or so - so super close... but just far enough away for my in laws. Ha!

I also am a wedding photographer and last year I shot a wedding at The Hemingway. Not sure how big you are looking for but these three homes are all event homes and are all next to each other. They are amazing!

I will vouch for Siswalker's house (not that it needs it). We have vacationed there with our family three years now and every year we find more and more things to like about it. It's a wonderful location and I can't say enough about the house itself. There is just something special about it. The house next door looks great (but I like Beach Walkers better Wink smiley ). We love the fact that it has four king master suites.

I think Siswalker has a beautiful home, but since I see from your other post that you're thinking about Hatteras, I'll mention our home which is oceanfront in Waves. It and the one nextdoor are both with Midgett Realty, and groups have rented out both homes before.

I think our Sea Star is prettier Wink smiley, but Mar Lago has an elevator. Both have pools and hot tubs. Sea Star is Sunday to Sunday, and Mar Lago has a Saturday turnover.

http://www.midgettrealty.com/rental/sea-star
http://www.midgettrealty.com/rental/mar-lago

In the summer especially, though you can't see the sand, you can watch the waves break and roll in. Relaxing on that deck is just blissful.

May is so beautiful on Hatteras and a lovely time of year for a wedding. Best wishes to you all.
