Tanya's

Tanya's

Does anyone remember Tanya's hotel in Kill Devil Hills I believe. Each room had some theme to it. I remember staying in a room that represented Nags Head Woods.

RE: Tanya's

Yes! I'm trying to remember some of the other room themes. Wasn't there a French room?

RE: Tanya's

My wife and I stayed there on our Honeymoon in 1983. If I remember right, it was called Tonya's Ocean House and yes, each room had a theme.
My wife thinks our room was some type of safari theme.

Does anyone know what MP this was at, or what is there now?

RE: Tanya's

I remember stopping there once w/ my family (I was a younging and it was the mid-80's). They were very proud of the fact they had a hotdog cookout for their guests.

RE: Tanya's

Tanya's was sold to another family who changed the name, but kept the theme rooms. After buying Tanya's the family sold the property and Tanya's was torn down.

I was just telling my kids about Tanya's yesterday. What a coincidence. smiley

My husband and I also spent the last 2 nights of our honeymoon at Tanya's Ocean House. It sounds really sad and pathetic to have done that now but it was nostalgic for us. We stayed in the Wanchese Fishing Village room, complete with plastic seagulls hanging from the ceiling- how romantic Theeth smiley We always stayed there for short stays to the beach and got a kick out of trying out the different theme rooms- one had a piano in it! Over the years ,however they continued to let it fall into disrepair and the last straw was on one particular visit the AC unit broke and the toilet backed up into the sink- gross ,and they wouldn't refund any of our money. One year, we even had a pet in the room - a baby possum had snuck in , now that really freaked us out!!
