Late wedding gift

Late wedding gift

I made this cabinet as a gift for my Nephew and his wife. The same ones that I made the cutting board for. The cutting board is an extra. They got married last summer, but I was on travel for almost all of last year and I am redoing some bathrooms at the same time.

I made something that is not to big as they live in a small apartment in Brooklyn. These are my first hand done dovetails, first knife hinges and first bread board top. It is all cherry, oil finish then hand rubbed wax.

What a beautiful gift, and with so much love and thought put into it. Worth the wait. I'm sure they will cherish it. Red heart

That is amazing! That gift is one that will be passed down as an heirloom for years to come!

It's gorgeous! What a great piece of work!

Thanks for all of the wonderful comments.

A wine cabinet is next.

Beautiful! You really did it up right by continuing the grain across the drawers and the dovetail groove for the divider. The pegs in the bread board are a great touch too. I love cherry as it ages and darkens. I couldn't tell in the picture but did you flock the inside of the drawers (it looks green)? Fantastic piece. What kind of cabinet are you making for wine? That's on my list too.

Thanks!

Yes, the draw from was one piece of wood that I split and bookend it across the front. The bottom of the draws are flocked (good eye!) in green.

The next project is still in the works, waiting for the one who must be obeyed to decide on the design. Looks like it is going to be something like a crisscross bottle storage with a draw on top. We are leaning towards hickory and maybe a granite top, but still in the sketching stage. This is a wine cabinet that I did for my niece. The draw was also flocked, but in a "wine" color of course.

Amazing as well. Nice touch with the inlay on the top, drawers and rails. The sides look like curly cherry. Way beyond my patience and capabilities to get that many drawer sliders to align correctly!
