As most of you know, my mom passed away last September. I actually did not spend the anniversary (9/17) doing what I had planned, which was taking photos on the stretch of road my mom walked me down when I was Amelia's age. I did however spend it with a lot of wonderful OBC ladies (many who are no longer on the board.)
When I got home though, I made it a priority to get the photos I wanted. I took the ones of just Amelia, but my husband got a few of Amelia and I. The lighting was pretty botched but I knew this was the SCENE I wanted. Walking this road with my mom was one of my fondest memories as a child. I knew I wanted the overpass in the background, even if it meant blowing out the sky. (the other direction was already pretty dark, we got there too late because I went the wrong way through this stupid little town you have to go through to get there.
The dress Amelia is wearing is one my mom bought for her just before she died. It was WAY too big for her last year but fit pretty well this year. I wish my mom had seen her in it.
