LOL! You beat me to it Paul. I just saw this same story in the offbeat section of WRAL and thought I'd post it here too. I was even thinking of using the same subject title "Pork Roll in the News". One other funny thing about this, I've lived in NC for 25 years, before that I lived in Hackettstown NJ, where this "news" takes place. Piggy

I lived in Hackettstown when I first got married, worked across the street from M&M Mars. We always had bags of chocolates in the break room.

If he did he would realize how stupid it is to compare Pork Roll to a Pork Chop.

One has not lived until they have had Pork Roll/Taylor Ham. Nor can one compare it to anything, not even a King!!!

Definitely a Jersey thing.

Last yr in Duck I saw that Wee Winks in Duck sold Taylor Ham in their deli, and also Taylor Ham breakfast sandwiches. After reading about pork roll here for so long I had to order one. Didnt hate it, but havent thought of it since.

It's definitely a North East thing. My wife, from the Philly burbs, loves it. It doesn't do anything for me. Scrapple is another one. She loves it. Me, not so much.

A very specific area in the northeast. I grew up in CT, and it is unknown in New England. Only heard of Taylor ham/pork roll when I moved to NJ. And only after I lived there for a while. Moved to NJ in 1986. First heard it when the neighbor across the street said "Taylor ham" in 1994. I had no idea what he was talking about. Theeth smiley

CT made me think of another regional food..the grinder! My Aunt lives in Groton and I visited often growing up. I try to explain it to people here in Ohio and they dont get it. "Sounds like a Sub." Noooo...it is the Mack Daddy of all sandwiches. I crave them! Red heart
