Pic of the old NYC garbage dump that they are making into Fresh Kills Park. For many years Staten Islanders had to put up with the putrid smell. It is over 700 acres and does not look like it is part of NYC. It looks more like the middle of the country. I did not smell anything when they had it open on Sunday but there are methane venting pipes connected to something that will collect the gas. 9/11 material is there but that part has not been turned into a park yet but will be. It is one of the highest spots on the East seaboard.
