We were there for our week in mid July. Caught over 100 fish but cleaned cleaned and ate a total of 99. Took a small batch home too. All were spot, pompano, mullet, croker, a few blue fish, no keeper flounder, no Spanish. But it was nice catching fish everyday. No sting rays this year either. Normally always get at least one. No drum either. But I am not complaining. Always love catching what we caught. They are so good to eat. All caught around the point. It was a great week! My brother-in-law went with us this year. First time to the ocean and onviously first time surf fishing. He was absolutely amazed. He is still talking about it and can't wait to go again next year with us. I get no greater thrill than to introduce someone to surf fishing on Hatteras island. I always say the first fish catches you. I is always a special moment when that happens. My brother-in-law was no exception. I have had the pleasure of witnessing that many times with family over the years it never gets old.
