Rating: Great place to take families with younger kids
I'm a single mother, with three small kids. I stayed there a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed the time that my family and I were there. There is a small playground area in the middle of the packing lot. My room and deck looked right out to the playground, so I could sit in my chair outside of my room and watch my children play. I did notice that the folks down in the office made some people leave because they were tresspassing. That was very comforting because, as a single mother, I get nervous about the idea of people wandering around the motel area. The folks down at the office were really quick to ask people to leave if they weren't staying at the motel. I really really appreciated that. I know it made those folks mad that they had to find an official beach access-I mean, if they wanted a more direct route to the ocean-they shoulda coughed up the money and rented oceanfront instead of across the street. But that is neither here, nor there. I did enjoy my stay and felt very safe being there with my children.
Rating: Thoroughly enjoyed our stay
This summer, we stayed at the Sandspur for the first time. We had a wonderful time and look forward to our next vacation there. My husband and I felt very comfortable there, as the owner, her husband and daughter all live on site. The cleaning staff was very nice and worked very diligently. Our room was very clean when we checked in. No bugs!!-which is a really big deal on the Outer Banks. Previous hotels we've stayed at have had a lot of bugs...and I've been told they're indigenous to the area-but still...The Sandspur didn't have any, which we really appreciated. We really enjoyed our stay and can't wait to go back.
Rating: Stayed June14th thru the 20th
We had stayed at the Sandspur 2 years ago oceanfront and really liked the location. We had rented another place in SNH this year and it was grosssss. We stopped by the Sandspur Sunday morning waited for our cottage to be cleaned and moved in that afternoon. Great place, very clean. Love the proximity to the beach and every where else.
Rating: THIS PLACE IS AWFUL BECAUSE OF MGR; COULD BE NICE
Manager was threatening and was going to call the cops to tow my visitors' car. Very grouchy and did not want our black friends, a young military husband and wife to stay or visit.Mgr's office smells like cat pee. Pool has a urination detector, does she work in the office? Spend your money someplace else, where people don't use the 'f' word in reference to veterans.
Rating: not veteran friendly
Don't bother to stay here if you are a Veteran/Soldier or a minority.Rude staff, non guest friendly
Rating: Very Bad Place
I tried to go to the beach through the Motel parking lot. My kids were on the beach and the Older lady told me that i could go a half mile either way to the next beach access. And that my kids were trespassing on the beach if they were in front of the motel and not a guest.
Rating: Stayed there for the last time.
Will not ever go back. The older woman at the desk was very mean. She was not interested in any thing that needed to be fixed. Which was a lot of things
Rating: Not a good place to stay
The management was grumpy, rude, and disrespectful. Not concerned at all about things that were wrong. Broken air conditioner.Etc.
Rating: We found a gem.
When we stayed at the Sandspur, we found a gem. It is a great place to stay. We stayed in one of the cabins. It was very clean, had air conditioners in every room, a shower/bath combination, comfortable furniture, and a kitchen full of appliances. There is plenty of parking and an on site outdoor swimming pool. The beach is gteat. The owners are friendly and ready to serve their customers. We have already booked again for next summer. The cost is very reasonable.
