Has anybody ever seen the Green Flash?

I took this video of sunset from Colington Harbour last night, and some of the guys nearby had been talking about the green flash...

Has anyone ever seen it? Someone in the video says it's a myth, but I don't think so.

I don't know about the green flash but that was a great video of the sunset.

The reason for a green flash lies in refraction of light (as in a prism) in the atmosphere: light moves more slowly in the lower, denser air than in the thinner air above, so sunlight rays follow paths that curve slightly, in the same direction as the curvature of the Earth. Higher frequency light (green/blue) curves more than lower frequency light (red/orange), so green/blue rays from the upper limb of the setting sun remain visible after the red rays are obstructed by the curvature of the earth.

don;t know about the green flash, but watch for the perseids meteor showers, now thru 8-18, peaking on 8-12

I have seen a green flash once, in Negril Jamaica. Hubby says it was the rum, but I swear I saw it.

As I recall The Flash wore a red suit not green. Perhaps you are confusing him with the Green Hornet.

In my first and only boxing match, I saw the green flash right before my knees buckled. Damn glass jaw!
