We have a rental home located by the old Nags Head water tower, which has been replaced by a modern cell tower. We understand the need for the cell tower ( and appreciate our great reception here), but it is UGLY.
Surely the tower can be disguised as something else! See the examples in the thread, "Here in Nags Head". Can we start a grassroots campaign to influence our local elected officials to change this eyesore into an appealing landmark which benefits the community, while still providing the service for which it is intended? I was wondering if anyone locally would be willing to help me organize other like-minded obxers. We live in Chapel Hill and are going to be busy for the next few weeks moving to a new home. This cause needs local support which I can't provide. HELP! Scotty Cox |

Here in Athens they built a very large cell tower disguised as a flag pole. Once they got an appropiately sized flag on it, it looked great! Just an idea.

They could decorate it as a giant sea oats plant--
And honestly, I for one do NOT see the necessity of super-duper cell phone service at the beach, even for us residents. |

I liked it better when there was no service on the island. Nobody could find me.
