Mack Daddy's Seafood Grill & Raw Bar is now known as Ketch 55 Seafood Grill but its ownership, management and staff are still the same. Many thanks to all who have supported us in the past. We look forward to seeing each and every one of you at Ketch 55 Seafood Grill.

Established in 2004, Mack Daddy's quickly became a Hatteras island institution for the freshest local seafood and produce, as well as hand-cut steaks. Now Ketch 55 continues the tradition of sourcing out the finest and freshest ingredients to serve our guests. Bring your friends and family for a night of island casual dining. Featuring multiple micro brews on tap and a wide selection of beer by the bottle accompanied by a specialty wine list, we have something for all tastes to go along with your dinner.

Our chef, Seth Foutz, has created a menu that is sure to appeal to all palates, ranging from simple seafood to composed plates, all with wine and beer pairings to help with your beverage selection. To further enhance your experience, we can take care of little ones with our kids' menu. We also take pride in our ability to handle special dietary requests; just inform your server when you arrive.

Our goal is to make sure your dining experience on Hatteras Island features the freshest ingredients possible.

Was disappointed that the shrimp in the shrimp and grits were on the small size and shells were still on. Service was good, and appetizers were okay. We went in the off-season which may have affected menu choices.

We just returned from our "mini vacation" to Buxton & had dinner (again) at Ketch 55. Food there is GREAT & the service is outstanding. They will do whatever they can to make you feel like family.

We've been to Ketch 55 three times now and it's never disappointing. Love their steaks & hubby loves their seafood pasta & mahi tacos. Very friendly staff.

In the 13 days we have been here, we've eaten out all but two. This place is fun, the food is great, the bar is raucous and the service was outstanding!!! Our one starter was gobbled up quickly and there was a statement that we should have ordered several. My salad, spinach and fried goat cheese-so good and different!! The entrees-we had tuna steak, NYstrips, pork roast, crab cakes and a three seafood grill-we all completely gone and many of us traded bites exclaiming about the flavor!!! BTW, best crab cakes I've ever had and I know that's a challengable claim down here, lol! Dessert-creme brulee, carrot cake, cheese cake-all delicious!!! Our server did not rush us; we had a fun, talkative and lively meal with courses coming just at the right time and never disappointing. We were greeted by a charming woman with a big smile on her face who gave us a comforting feeling of being welcome as she seated us. Always a good way to start. The place was a little noisy-filled with lots of tables of patrons enjoying themselves and the food they were being served-all happy and smiling.
FIVE STARS, can I give them more??

When I look at reviews for places like Cafe 12 and see that they get 5 stars, and that Ketch doesn't that seems a little skewed to me. Cafe 12 is certainly good, but its got a specific speciality (their flats), but other than that it's not nearly in the same class as Ketch.

Ketch, IMHO, is one of the more upscale food options on the island and it's menu is a little more sophisticated than most of the other places we've tried. You pay a little more for this, but I think you do get what you pay for. Our food experiences have ranged from good, to excellent. Mostly it's been excellent, but on one occasion I remember my wife and I were slightly disappointed and decided that it was because it was just "good", rather than excellent. I'm not sure you can complain too much when the worst you can say is that it was "just good".

Like many of the places down here, it's a single room establishment mixing the food tables around the bar, so if you get in on a popular bar night you have to take that into account with regard to the ambiance. All in all, when we want something "nice" we'll go to Ketch to celebrate that we're lucky enough to be on vacation in the OBX.

The menu is ambitious. Maybe too much so. Food was not great, the room is very noisy, no rugs or ciurtains and the bar crowd can be loud. Wife had a special that had Risotto on the plate and it was rock hard and mixed with a salty tomato sauce.

A little upscale and not the cheapest restaurant on the island, we found Ketch 55 to be exactly what we wanted and we've been back a few times! Knowledgeable waiters, a good chef, choices for everyone, great desserts-different and delicious! They easily accomodated our need for a shellfish allergy and never batted an eye. The drinks from the bar were prepared to order and our son says their steak was the best meat on the island. The orzo was good too, he says. I love their continental service which means they didn't rush us through our meal and that was intentional.
