Good food 11/12/2015

Living a block away from this place means I will go here often. Over the years I have been a fan, lots interest, became a super fan, lost interest and lately I am a fan again. It seems when they get a new kitchen staff things change and sometimes for the good and sometimes not so. Currently they are back to pretty good. They lean towards a mexican/American menu and they have Tapis night on Thursdays. They can create some tasty treats on Tapis nights. The burgers are good, chili is good and I love the wet burrito. Never crowded so when I worry about can I get in here or there I go here. They have a full bar and many hang out there in the evenings.

Food Poisoning!!! 4/16/2015

Mellie and I both got food poisoning at Chilli Peppers a couple years ago as well as another couple we know. Always liked the food and would have went back eventually but the mamagement showed little to no concern when we reported this to them. Hope it doesn't happen to anyone else!!

All Around Good.... 2/12/2013

First off, we love any type of food resembling mexican - the spicier the better. We have made Chilli Peppers our traditional "last night at the beach" dinner stop. You can get in and out quick and our food and service has always been above average. A very comfortable atmosphere and margaritas are very good too.

Chilli TurnOff 4/1/2011

I wish I found this website sooner. About a year ago my husband and I arrived a half hour before their dinner time ended. We were going to leave when we were convinced by the waitress that it was ok to stay for dinner. I guess we didn't order enough to make it worth their time because of the derogatory comment that was yelled across the room by the chef as we were walking out the door. Needless to say, we never returned and we don't recommend it to anyone! We can't understand the packed parking lot whenever we drive by ... it must be all kids or they're selling we don't know about. There's too many other great places to eat at (i.e. Run Down Cafe, Aisian Bristro, Awful Arthurs, etc.).

Cramped place with terrible service 6/28/2010
Reviewer: Joan
The food was ok but a little overpriced...I felt myself getting claustrophobic because it is so small. The service was slow and they were not even crowded...wish we would have went to one of the crowed places.

great food, great margaritas and bloody mary's 10/24/2009

Very cramped and busy place, but they have great food in huge portions and serve great drinks and cold beer. Go for Sunday brunch (after 12) and try the Bloody Mary Bar, where you can mix your own!

Food is good but the place is really dirty. Chairs need to be scrubbed and we had to avert our eyes from the many dead flies on the window sill.

Locals know about this place but many tourists are missing out. Great seafood, burgers, and specials. I get the Alaska crab legs because these guys cook them perfectly. The tuna is always good here too. Try it - you'll like Chili Peppers.

I eat here every few weeks, and usually get the Steamer pot: fresh fish & veggies steamed in a bamboo steamer. It's always perfect. The rest of the menu is good, especially the chowder! It's very small and it's a challenge of you have more than 4 people.

Good food, but..... 7/14/2006

zero decor. Plain old wooden tables, hard old wooden chairs, noisy. Prices on the high side for the decor, but portions are good size. Drinks are $6-9. The menu is imaginative, and the food is pretty good and well-presented. The crab-cakes are tasty with smoky pepper crust, but had too much filler for my liking, more like deviled crab. The carb and shrimp over polenta is a better choice, IMHO.

A "Can't Miss" for Lunch 5/31/2006
Reviewer: Jim Clinkenbeard
Drinks are great, but the food is terrific. Homemade chili is amazing. Fish dishes are unique, fresh, and huge. Jalapeno potato salad is the perfect side. Atmosphere is mid-Jimmy Buffett. Menu changes frequently. Prices are good. We go several times during our 2-3 week stay.

We never miss a lunch a Chilli Peppers when we visit the Outer Banks. Their soups of the day are always innovative and excellent. A soup and sandwich stop here is part of every trip.

Sometimes good 10/26/2004

I eat here often since I can walk to it. The food is sometimes wonderful and sometimes just OK. Seems to matter who is cooking that day. The menu is limited, but they do have some good items. The tuna appetizer is just to die for (when they have it) and the Sunday brunch is good. They have a great hamburger and the chili is very good. I have had some fantastic tuna here too. The downside is it is small and can be noisy. It is a favorite local hangout.

The Ribeye was nothing short of spectacular, one of the best steaks ever. It had a raspberry habanero glaze that was the perfect blend of spicy/sweet. Can't wait to go back again!
