We have been to Avon for many years and have never had the opportunity to come here. We arrived at 630 on a Friday evening and had to wait 20 mins for our table. We were seated and had some local brews and placed our order. Blackened Red snapper and fried Red drum were awesome! Another entree of blackened salmon was equally tasty! Grilled Flounder and a bacon cheeseburger rounded out our orders. Each dish was served a large portion of fish and the sides were as plentiful! Very tasty and a must come back to thus gem!

Just went in the off season, and had their Friday night special (fried oysters) and they were delicious! Prices are reasonable and a good selection of beers on draft.

We make a point to go twice in one week… just can’t help ourselves!! I always get the snow crab legs. They are cooked to perfection. We also shared the sesame seared tuna which was amazing!! Fish tacos are great & the grillers are a lot of fun!! Julie at the bar is a sweetie pie!!

We drive in night before, great place for breakfast to leisurely wait for house. Love their breakfast sandwiches, and the Bloody Mary is really good, nice & spicy, & great beer selection!

Always our first stop on our way to Hatteras Village, usually our last stop heading home and good enough to travel back up from Hatteras during our stay. Atmosphere, food and wait staff are top notch!!

I have a chance to have dinner as well as Oceanas, this place is outstanding. The staff is great to chat with and the food is plentiful with a great variety on the menu. Not to be missed!

We vacationed this year in mid October, and didn't anticipate how early Hatteras Island seems to shut down this time of year. On our first night we pull into Gidgets just after 9pm, closed. Ok let's cook dinner at home, go across the parking lot to Food Lion, turned away at the door. Uh oh! Nino's sign is still on- yes! Just as I get my little one out of her car seat, the sign goes off. Start the drive of shame back home to Rodanthe, and notice Oceana's Bistro and they were open!

We ended up being the only customers in there after a while and it was technically past their usual closing time, but were never made to feel rushed. Even as the staff were shutting down their stations, we were told to take our time and were even offered dessert. How can you not like a place like this? As for the food, I ordered what turned out to be a monster French Dip that came with a big 'ol serving of delicious fries, and my daughter had the teriyaki wings which were cooked just how I like them - nice and crispy. We happened upon this place by chance, but we will definitely be returning.

This is by far the best we've ever had here. We walk here from our cottage. My wife had scallops and shrimp, her favorites, and this was the best she's ever had. I've had problems in the past finding something I'd really like at a reasonable price, but this time I had 4 or 5 things to choose from. I got the Mahi blackened, with baked potato and salad. It was all great! We generally aren't much on fried food, but the fried shrimp special Sunday night is really good too.

The Beachbumz ate in the bar and Julie the bar tender did a bang up job. She was super busy but still took great care of us! Whipped us up some Mermaid Martinis that were fabulous! Great sweet potato fries, great flounder, honey pepper chicken. Yum. Wish we were staying longer we could go back again!

Based on the reviews of this site, my DH and I went to dinner here during our July visit to Avon. We arrived about 5:30 and were able to get seated immediately. The waitress was prompt and suggested a few items from the "special" menu of the night. I took her up on it and had the Bacon and Shrimp Wontons. DH had the Mahi Mahi bites. Both were delicious.

For an entree I had (off the regular menu) the grilled Shrimp and Scallops and DH had the Chicken Alfredo. Size portions were very filling. DH, who has a large appetite, ended up taking half his dinner home. No way could we even think about dessert.

If we get a chance to go there again before we leave this week, we definately will. Would not hesitate to recommend Oceana's Bistro. Food was excellent, waitstaff hustled and by the time we left there was a wait to be seated.

We go here often because it's at the end of our street. Most things are kind of so-so, but we love the fried shrimp special on Sundays. We don't usually go for fried food, but these big shrimp are too good to pass up.

On Sunday morning for breakfast. The staff is always accommodating whether we have just a few or the entire entourage. Meals are proportioned generously and prepared to our liking. Their new location makes it even better. Highly recommended by us.

We stay just down the road from Oceana's and tend to go there not just because it's within walking distance, but also because it's got good food and friendly service. I'm a land-lubber and my wife likes the seafood and there's always something good for both of us, and the rug-rat. It's one of the places on Hatteras that is open off season, so it really is one of the places we go to routinely.

When I compare Oceana's to other places I'd put it slightly ahead of Hurricane Heathers in terms of the quality of the food, and significantly better than Cafe 12. If you want a flat (which are really nice) then go to Cafe 12, but if you want something else, then Oceana's is probably going to be better for about the same price.

We stopped here and had lunch with our children in June 2012. The boys realy liked their burgers and I had some delicious fish tacos. Our server was very good and the place was quiet and clean. There was a wide variety of food on the menu and daily specials as well. It is nice to go out to eat and be served fresh, great tasting food in a nice atmosphere.

Our new favorite place on the island. Stopped in for lunch back in October, ate there 3 more times during the week. Had to go back over the holidays. Good food, friendly staff, whether at the bar or at a table. Great nightly specials. Really good clam chowder.

One of our times there was during the off-season, and we were the only table in the place. Food was great, and service was great. Went the very next day, and there were no open tables! No change in food, and service was what could be expected for a packed restaurant with only one waitress/bartender. Highly recommend!
