Yes, they're known for the apple uglies (and of course we had them) but the breakfast burritos are excellent. We spent three nights in Buxton within walking distance of the bakery, which of course meant that I headed over each morning. The burritos are huge and delicious. My husband went with one with both sausage and bacon and I got the veggie; the fresh salsa really makes it. I also tried the DeVina (egg and cheese with mayo on fresh bread). It was good but not as good as the burrito. Also recommended are the chocolate muffins. They're rich and moist and oh so yummy.

We have NEVER been disappointed here. Uglies are always the same, year after year. Love that this is one thing we can always depend on!!! Wish they would ship.

OK, I have to admit I am a sucker for the uglies, but I have also been partial to the orange blossom cranberry muffins......that is until they were both sold out and I tried one of the glazed donuts.....O.M.G! Those glazed donuts are the best donuts I have ever eaten anywhere, ever, period.

It's a very busy place. The staff are pleasant, fast moving because of busy times. The Apple Uglies are yummy and the glazed donuts are really good too! My daughter likes the double chocolate muffins. It's so worth a stop especially on a day when your heading to the beach.

I treat the family to them once or twice during the trip. Most of the time I will get there and wait on them and they come out still warm. By the time I get them back to the house they are perfect and everyone loves them. Not so much the price I care about but more of the tradition of getting them. I've been going to the obx for 25 years and that is a yearly tradition I gotta stick by. Vacation just is not vacation without a little bit of grease coming out of your morning pastry.

Everyone raves about the apple uglies but we tried their breakfast sandwiches instead and they were incredible. Pricey but worth it while on vacation but locals definitely come by too. Busy but they did best to keep up.

Everyone raves about the apple uglies....I was not impressed with them....too greasy for me. Just another apple fritter with too much grease in it. I know I'm in the minority, but I just didn't like it....also too expensive I think.

Only stopped in once....had to try an Apple Ugly. It was very good. Wish I had gotten there earlier when it was still warm. Definitely plan to go back to try the other goodies.

Yes, you need to be there early to make sure they are available. Yes, they are worth the prep time of knowing that you have to be there early. We always stay at Breakwater and I always plan on the 15 min. trip up there to get breakfast for the family at least 2 times a week. Apple Uglies are the best!!!

We've been going to HI for 6 years now and every year we must stop at the Orange Blossom. Love the apple uglies! This year I also tried one of their breakfast sandwiches and it was delicious. The size of the sandwich was huge and it was freshly made while we waited.

My only complaint is they stop making apple uglies too early. In peak season, get there early or you'll miss out! ;)

I cannot make a trip to Hatteras without stopping here. You have to get there EARLY to get the Apple Uglies - it's worth getting out of bed for them! They have good coffee, but not a lot of seating. Remember to grab napkins!

The place is always loaded with locals -- that says a lot. NOT fancy but an island kind of rustic cool. We go there at least once or twice every year for breakfast -- or just to make an Apple Ugly run. Wish I had one right now!

This is a must stop for us every trip. They make great breakfast sandwiches that we order to go and eat on the beach. The donuts and muffins are also good, but you have to try an Apple Ugly. They are delicious, especially if you get them warm. Go early for the best selection. They open at 7am and there is always people waiting in the parking lot for the door to unlock.
