The NPS trapped over 2,500 cats, raccoons, opossums, foxes, nutrias, minks , coyotes and even a few dogs between 2005 and 2011 and it made not one bit of difference in the piping plover population on the island.

If my memory serves me right, I remember reading some time ago, that the main predator of the plovers was the ghost crab. Seems like the NPS is directing the majority of their control efforts to the wrong animals. Thumbs down
