The resident canal pet. He has a concave area that covers the middle of his shell. Early injury. perhaps? He gets a treat from nearly everyone who passes by and will come all the way up on the bank to fetch them. Favorite seems to be bacon scraps but how often is there leftover bacon around? Longtime residents say he has been in the same spot for at least 25 years. I think he's much older than that.
