But The commercial flounder season will reopen on Sept. 15 in waters north of Pamlico Sound and on Oct. 1 in Pamlico Sound.
Tell me how that will do anything to help.

It's even more worrisome because it was all done to deal with low stocks of Southern Flounder. We have both Summer Flounder (Fluke) and Southern Flounder. Most rec fishermen can't tell them apart so they closed all "Flounder" Also my mistake it closes on the 4th

It's completely ridiculous. A keeper flounder is 15" and you are hard pressed to get that anymore so they get tossed back.

Wait a sec. Commercial fishing can continue, but recreational fishing will be closed? This doesn't make any sense.

I should have kept the 6 I caught last week on Ocracoke. But they were all 14” and 13” and not very fat.
