How is the fishing after a hurricane? Does it make it better or worse?

Well I'm going to comment on this but I'm assuming you mean surf/pier vs. Boat. Also you are thinking more in terms of pressure changes and the psychic side rather than the physical or real time conditions. I'm a charter boat Captain but have done some Surf fishing years ago. I think your question is not easy to answer. Have to break it up to consider water condition and wind direction then go to Tides and surf changes. If water stays turbulent and dirty any clear water fishing will be bad, bottom fish could be good because of abundance of stirred up food. Sometimes you get strong lateral currents which make Bottom fishing impossible. Forget about Blues/Spanish even Trout until the water is clear. You get clear water generally a N, NE, E or possibly SE wind. If the Surf Topography changes you have to look for new sloughs, holes etc. See where I'm going. Now Offshore fishing is generally stimulated but first you have to find the fish and then worry about impossible currents. Let's hear from the local surf fishermen.

Things should be settling out by now. The water only needs a few tide cycles to clean up. Rainwater runoff near the inlets could still muddy things up in those areas. I guess I’ll find out this weekend.

The mullet are back in Hatteras at ramp 55. I have not wet a line since Dorian so I don't know if the puppy drum are back in the shallows on the sound side yet.
