The sign has been up for just over eight years now. I have done some minor touch up, but this is the first total repaint. The One Shot paint is very good paint made for signs. I looked into applying a top coat, but talking with my friend that is a sign painter, he said it is more trouble than it is worth.
My biggest concern is the base material. It is cedar and is showing signs of deterioration. I have learned that there is material, strangely enough called sign board, that I would use to make a new sign if I can no longer repair this sign.
The other thing that I would do differently is the tail string was a steam bent 1/8" dowel. I had to replace most of it this time as it was cracking, if you look closely at the first photo you can see the cracks. Used a brass rod this time. I think this will be better.
