Quote of the day

Well, this struck me as timely, and helped get me through a hard day. Things will unfortunately get worse with the virus, but it will eventually get better.

"Today is the sort of day where the sun comes up only to humiliate you. The timeless in you is aware of life's timelessness. And knows that yesterday is but today's memory, and tomorrow is today's dream."

Khalil Gibran, 1883 - 1931

You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, '"I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along."

What should young people do with their lives today? Many things, obviously. But the most daring thing is to create stable communities in which the terrible disease of loneliness can be cured.

"Mom, we're out of ________ ( some food item we had plenty of this morning) I miss Chuck's (the cafeteria/food court at his college). They never run out of stuff"

19 year old son

No, it isn't a real quote, but I'm hearing it way too often. I have never met a college kid who liked the college food, but mine does.

"Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone"

Jesus AKA Jesus Christ

I'm not particularly religious at all. I would say that I'm an agnostic. Sometimes I say I'm an agnostic Christian. This quote has always rung true, no matter what.

Really appreciate everyone's contributions.

"They talk about the greatest generation, the generation that survived World War II, dealing with hardship actually makes you stronger.. Life is not about avoiding challenges. Challenges are going to come your way. Life is going to putt on your rear end at one point. Something will happen and then life becomes about overcoming those challenges. That is what life is about, and that is what this country is about. America is America because we overcome adversity and challenges. I believe that to the bottom of my soul we are going to overcome this and America will be the greater for it."

Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York state 3/22/2020
