Anyone want to share something positive today?

The president of my son's university announced yesterday that the students will be required to move out of the dorms over the next few weeks, as they will not be returning to campus this school year (not surprising). They are doing this by appointment only to limit the number of people in each building at one time.

The good news is that they are issuing refunds for unused room, board and meals! I know, it is the right thing to do, but I was surprised to hear that announcement. It hadn't crossed my mind, but I am thankful for it!

So I decided that staying busy would be my best shot for getting through the long days. So far, it has helped.

Yesterday, I got the dead wood out of our huge apple tree that was hit by lightning last year. And there was a bunch of wood. I don't have a fire pit or a fireplace; so I set the wood out by the road, and added a "sign" that might encourage a quick pick-up.

Wood was gone this morning. smiley

My son is at the end of a 6 year journey to get his PharmD. He has one clinical rotation, scheduled to start this Monday, to complete before he can graduate in May. Everyone is on stay @ home restrictions and those that can are WFH (God bless those who can't)...... We all thought, no way he was going to be able to complete this last rotation and graduate. The good folks at McNeil devised a way for him to complete this rotation remotely. He will be able to complete his required rotational hours and graduate on time. :-)

Pretty sure there will not be a graduation in May, but when it does happen, he will be eligible.....That is a weight off all of our shoulders.

Stay safe and WASH YOUR HANDS often :-)

Yup,
Spoke to my old friend Jimmy Z today. It was quite refreshing to listen to his take regarding our current state of affairs.
To all of those jag offs that are downplaying or disregarding all of the "shelter in-place" orders, I'd love to have a "conversation" with you...

Our neighbor sent me a text that she cleaned her yard and put the best sticks in her paper box for our dog. He was stoked to walk by and find a pile of sticks at her mailbox for him. He reduced one to sawdust right there in the street then grabbed a roadie and finished it at home. There are more sticks there for today.

My daughter is a Senior in High School, and like most teen and parent relationships times are often rocky.

The three of us (Me, Wife, and Daughter) have been in our Home basically 24/7 for the past 15 days. Let me just say that our relationship is so much stronger than it was before this hit.

Staying busy is the key to getting through this. I gave up on my 18 hour TV Binge watching after about day 3 of this. Now I have a bunch of little projects going on. None too big, but all important and things I haven't had time for in the past.

I went to Home Depot early today after grocery shopping, which opened at 6 AM for seniors. My little home project is to swap out incandescent bulbs for LEDs. LEDs have come down a lot in price that there's no need to wait until lights burn out to replace them. Everywhere I look, there are more bulbs to change. Theeth smiley

I'm so happy to see the sun shining today! Great day for outdoor projects.

We have several home projects going on too. Given a choice, my 16-yo would much rather help his dad than work on his school work. They have started building a new fence around our backyard, replanting the seedlings for the garden into bigger containers, finish filling in the trench that they dug 2 weeks ago to bury our new electric lines. We are getting ready for a new roof and siding, but that has been postponed until we find out what the effects of this missing work will be. I am planning to clean off our screened porch today, it becomes a catch all in the winter. Add in all of the cleaning we've been working on inside, my house will be in great shape when this is over!

My husband is a beekeeper and spent the day before yesterday bottling honey he harvested over the weekend. We sold 68 of 70 1-lb bottles yesterday in about 3 hours!

I think this is pretty positive...

My company....who does large format printing along with POP displays was asked to manufacture disposable face shields. So that's what we are trying to do. With have enough material in house to produce and donate about 10K of them. We are limited to what we have in house since we don't want to start buying up material from the other manufactures that make them full time

I've lost a few pounds. That's positive.

Nan and I have an early July wedding to go to in Newport, RI. I know what I weighed when I bought the suits 15 years ago that I want to try on for the wedding. It was a period where I was biking 90 minutes a day a few days a week and doing weights or Nordic Track on other days.

It isn't what I weigh now. Theeth smiley
