Pier Fishing

Are any of the piers open for fishing? Closer to Nags Head if possible. Jennette Pier is our go to place, and they're still closed. We come down in less than 3 weeks. We love pier fishing, we spend alot of our week there. If they are open, are they only letting a certain # of people on at a time, time limits, should you get passes in advance to hold your spot?

Was at Fishheads yesterday to eat. Lots of folks fishing but didn't see anyone catch anything.

It was slow early this week but surf fishing picked up Tues/Wed and I have caught probably 15 or 20 whiting/kingcroaker. Mostly dinks but I also got a 16" one that had to be close to 2 pounds, she was a bigun.

Also got a couple puppy drum and some spot. The hot place most of the week has been the little bridge going towards Manteo. Folks are slaying the trout there. I went late in the morning on Tuesday but got skunked, should have been there earlier.

Your big sea mullet would have possibly been a citation. You should have stopped by a tackle shop and gotten it weighed.
Nice catching!!

Thanks jighead, yeah I realized that when I got back to the house and looked it up... On the beach I thought about keeping her but wasn't sure if we would have the time to go grab the stuff needed to cook her. So I let her go. Oh well. Would have made a couple nice sandwiches.

Went out in the boat yesterday between storms and got 14 trout. Only kept one nice 19 incher. Went back today in the Roanoke sound and slayed them again. Smallest was 17 inches.

Great Sound Trout fishing now. Also mixed in there are some Puppy's and throwback Flounder depends on location. Lots.of small outboard charter boats to take you out. It'll run you about $475. For 3 people, maybe a max of 4. It is much.more comfortable with 2 or 3 people . This is light rod casting/jigging. Not drop your line Bottom fishing. A lot of fun.

I hope they're still hitting this weekend. I found a cut that's a couple hundred yards long that had them stacked up a few weeks ago. It's a LONG walk in waders so I'm thinking about looking into renting a kayak for a few days.

Not a bad idea. Other than horrible weather, I believe there will still be plenty of action this weekend.

Thanks. I forgot to mention that you also have 2 free options to fish other than the piers. They are both located on the nags head- Manteo causeway. One is called the little bridge and the other is located at the public boat ramp opposite pirates cove marina just on the other side of the bridge to Manteo. Good luck!

Nags Head pier appears to be open today. That will give you another option.
