I just bought a Sigma 150-600 Contemporary Lens. I'm have a Canon 80D camera and am looking to get some nice pics next week on Hatteras. I really hope I can get some Dolphins jumping and maybe some surfers. Does anyone have this lens? Do you like it?

Sorry dannik508, I don't have any knowledge of this lens, but 150-600 is a great range. Is it stabilized? If not, make sure you use a tripod or mono pod. I carry a collapsible mono-pod on the front of my case (you don't even notice it). At 600, even with the stabilization in my camera, the mono-pod does help.

Nice! When I was searching for a long lens about 5 years ago for my Nikon. I decided on the Tamron 150-600 f/5-6.3. Got a good price at B&H (where I buy most everything). It is a pretty nice lens for the price. As Dubs said, when possible always good to use tripod/monopod. I have hand held at 600 but as I get older it becomes more of a challenge. Don't forget to get a decent UV filter to protect your glass. Looking forward to see some photos.

I have the older 170-500mm Sigma. It's a great lens. Suggestions of tripod are spot on. Fully extended this lens is BIG ! You will love it . My only compliant is that the lens tends to "creep" if you point it down. It just slides from 170 to 500 unless you hold it in place or have the lens aimed level or up. If anyone has a DYI fix please post.
Try to get some moon shots. I am still trying to get my vacation time ,the full moon and good weather to all come together. Looking forward to you posting photos.
