I know a lot of people use those e-z pop up Canopies . I have they are not e-z unless you have 4 people to set it up. Umbrellas are ok but limited shade Shade area and subject to wind blowing it over I have seen a couple more I think look good , just want to know who has tried one of these and your thoughts on it

This one look simple enough but it seem to depends on the wind to keep it up

I have a 10x10 canopy and can put it up in 3 minutes by myself. On the beach, daughters softball tournaments, in the backyard. piece of cake. Cake

I haven't tried either. However, my boss bought a Shibumi shade this year and he said it was easy to put up. If they thought it was easy, I'm sure you can do it.

We ended up with a Kelty Cabana shelter and it was easy to put together.

If you go over to "The Hull Truth" boating forum, Carolinas section, there is a thread going on now about the Shibumi shade. Consensus is that it works but is expensive....200-250 bucks and apparently they are hard to come by at the moment.

I'm looking at the Neso right now - won't need it for a while so I have time to make a decision. I know the videos are supposed to make it look easy, but it really DOES look easy. And the price isn't bad either.

We have a couple of Neso canopies and they are nice, in a super windy condition they work better tied off to a Jeep on one side and it’s also nice to setup over the pool or hot tub back at the house

I like the looks of that Neso, but don't like the sandbags to hold it up in a strong wind. Seems like they could just pull right out of the sand......I guess there's nothing that is completely safe in the strong wind. Maybe cement blocks!!!!!

We have the Red Suricata sun shade. We used it last month in Duck and loved it!!!It is so easy to set up, one person can set it up.It weighs 10 pounds so very easy to carry and takes up very little room in our vehicle.

We bought a Neso a few yrs ago but have not used it. In very wind conditions like the OBX you have to be careful. I am hopeful to use it this year when we come down in Oct. Our friends are not fond of the sun so it should work as long as the wind is below 15mph.

I bought the Shibumi Shade a couple of years ago after talking to a guy on the beach using one in Hatteras. He raved about it.
We consider it an expensive fail. Attempted it 4 times and each time we found that shade and wind direction don't always jive. Another feature we liked about it was it was small enough to pack in luggage for a annual trip we take to FL. The beach sand there was more powdery on the surface and more hard just below the surface. Shibumi would not penetrate deep enough to hold. $250 and it sits in my attic Sad smiley

I have the Neso Grande with 2 extra poles. I set it up by myself. The sand bags hold a lot of sand and I bury them for extra tension. Its a dream, even on a day with wind. I can recommend them. Poles are 6 feet long, so the clearance below is pretty good!

Why extra poles? Is it a 'just in case' thing or do you use them when you set it up?

The sandbags work great, on very windy days we bury the bags

So you can make more head room

It comes with 2, and the general plan is to create a lean-to kind of set up. This size is a bit larger, so extra poles means I can create more of a canopy out of it to allow more people under it. 5 to 6 people can easily fit in the shade it makes.

Yeah, I'm old school, but tried virtually every shade device out there....there is still nothing like a "real" commercial umbrella. We rotate through three. Use one if just us, or use all three if guests in town. Just so much easier to set up and remove from the beach than anything else - also if need to adjust during the day, soooo much easier.
