. I like watching the AL East but the Yankees have been my team since 1960 when my grandfather took me to the Stadium to see them. He lived nearby. I actually have a Yankee license plate.

My mom grew up nearby, too. Had everyone's autographs: Ruth, Gehrig, Dickey, Lazzeri, and so on.

I asked about them. She threw them out when she was a teenager. Wasn't a big deal to see Ruth, Gehrig, and others on the street. You saw them all the time. Why keep the autographs? Yeesh!

I have the MLB package so I get to see them every game, and this year with COVID, I bought a Cutout and was assigned a seat in the MVP club behind home plate. I am about 10 rows behind Pat Sajak

Not really a big baseball person, but I cheer for the Reds. Have family in the Cincinnati area and had an Aunt that worked for them. Had a signed ball by a bunch of Reds players, including Johnny Bench. Can't find it now. My parents got rid of a lot of my stuff when I moved away.

I chaired a committee at a PGA Champions Tour tournament. Former professional athletes were paid to golf and an autograph session.
Bench was one. He was a first class jerk.

My childhood hero Remember the SI pic of him holding 7 baseballs in one hand?

Best Bench story ever was the pitcher that shook him off three times...Bench wanted a breaking ball, pitcher wanted his best "heat". Pitch was a ball, Bench caught it w his throwing hand and thew it back, even faster than the pitch, almost taking the pitchers glove off. Dude never shook him off again

I agree Izzy. Not watching any sports as long as they add their political BS to it. The whole idea of sports is to watch and escape from the "real world" for a few hours. It's a shame that this is happening to America's National Pastime. My love for baseball hasn't diminished but I won't support the major leagues anymore. If high school or college ball ever comes back that's what I'll be watching. As a side note, I haven't worn a Raven's jersey or watched a game since they did the kneeling thing in England.

Red Sox pounded the O's in the season opener. The Red Sox announcers and other TV sport folks were happy, adding that the Orioles are one of the worst teams in baseball, and the Sox should roll over them in the series.

I didn't miss it as much as I thought I would. I'm watching it, as it gives me something to watch when I am out on the porch at night having a cigar. I can see the TV in the den.

Thought of a non-sports-following former colleague. Took her to a college football game in 2009. This Ph.D. friend asked, "how may quarters are there in a game?"

Nan and I looked at her.

"What?"

We said slowly, " ... quarters ... "

I must say I found it odd to watch without fans. We certainly bring the energy level to this sport and that is missed.

Excited about expanded playoffs though ! 16 teams this year. And a best of 3 to start opening round.

I think the season just ended. Two teams quarantined, four games cancelled for today, more testing being done.
