6 yrs ago we thought fantasy football took away from real pro football,it was just numbers! Now we can't wait till this weekend to draft our teams! We're both in a very competitive 10 team ppr league! Don't knock it till you play it,lots of fun!!

I've been doing it since 1997. Back then everything was manually done. The draft was on pen and paper and you had to keep track of who was drafted (or you'd get ridiculed for trying to draft someone already taken). You had to send your lineup to the commissioner by a certain day/time or it didn't count. The commissioner also had to get the Sunday paper and manually calculate the points. There were no programs to do it.

I think FF really took off when you could do it online and have everything done for you. I didn't start a league until 2003 when I could do it in Yahoo. There was no way I was going to do it manually. Still have it there with all the history saved.

Our draft is this Friday. Looking forward to it.

Thanks. Good luck with your draft Sunday. We won't know our draft order until 30 mins before. Keeps it interesting. It's a 8 person league right now. It started out 8, then went up to 10, and then back down to 8 after 2 dropped out.

I was in 2 leagues for a while, but I dropped out of 1 because it wasn't as fun when you had players in one league and was playing a team that had those players in another league. Now I can property focus and enjoy the games. As everyone knows, the players can definitely hear you when your yelling and cheering at the TV.

My son is in my league also. He's 17 now, but was 10 when he joined. He made it to the championship game his first year and played me. Last year we both made to it the championship game again. I beat him both times. It's still a sore subject that I enjoy bring up a lot.

We have a modest $50 entry. 1st place gets $325, 2nd $50 and 3rd $25. it' really about the bragging though. There's a small plastic trophy that gets passed to last years champion at the draft. Last year I added a thick gold chain to it so I could wear it at the draft. I'm a back to back champion the last 2 years (first time it's happen in our league), so I get to wear it again tonight.

Yahoo introduced a Presentation mode this year. I put it up on another computer and hooked it up to a TV. Pretty cool and reminded me of the old draft boards.

The draft is normally in my basement and everyone comes over to do it live, but this year we had several do it online and just a couple came over. We were going to do it outside, but storms rolled through, so we did it in my kitchen and family room. I put it up on the 60" TV there, but would have loved to see it on the 120" screen in the basement. Hopefully next year is more normal.

McCaffrey, Barkley, Kamara went 1,2,3. Probably going to be similar in most drafts. I had the 3rd pick also and it was tough taking a Saint, but it was the best options in our league. Good luck tomorrow!

We had a good draft day! Went over to our daughters house,ate some wings,had a couple of beers,played cornhole then got down to business! I got Barkley in 1st round,the guy that picked before me got Elliott! Overall I think I've got a good team this season!! Ready to get the season started next Thursday night!!
