It is my understanding that after removing all of the trees and creating a construction mess they have stopped the new ABC build in Corolla.

Where did you hear that?

Hadn’t heard that, but it doesn’t look like a lot of progress has been made in a few months.

I thought the same. Little or no progress on the site when I was down last month compared to May.

Instead of guessing, I reached out to Bob White, District 1 Commissioner & Chairman.

This was his response:
"We are having some truss issues and working through it with the engineers and builders. It is going to be awhile before it gets finished."

Guess they don’t want the building to come down on customers/staff during a high wind. Confused

How many buildings have had flaws but no one spoke up or stopped construction and then poof, the structure comes down and it is on the news.

Kind of a weird response. It’s not like the ABC stores are architectural wonders. Could be the cost of materials/lumber have skyrocketed and they doNt want to pay the difference in materials. Can’t really believe it’s a engineering issue with the truss unless
they paid the engineers in Blanton’s.

I am having a home built right now, and the Supply Chains are whacked! In a perfect world, my home would have completed last week. But I am now the 3rd week in March and the latest missed delivery of needed building supplies means I could slip into April.

Many starts and stops and starts in this process. I would imagine if you have a major issue its almost impossible to resolve in a timely manner/

We started a whole exterior replacement last summer. Roof replaced late September. Deck/screened porch in October. Windows took forever to be delivered and everything resumed just after New Years. January saw doors, windows, and siding replaced (completed today). We’re down to paint, lighting, and gutters remaining. I never thought this would have taken as long as it has, but coronavirus has played a large part in the cost and timing of many construction projects.

Many of us down here are still rebuilding from Dorian. Getting materials has been an expensive PITA.
