Was watching it 30 years ago.

A person was introduced as a "research chemist from (somewhere) Pennsylvania ..."

I said, "nerd."

" ... Robert Gibboni."

I then said to my wife. "Hey! I know him. I went to grad school with him."

Two things about Alex Trebek for me...

1. I watched with my kids and we all tried to answer the questions. It always heavily favored me, until both my kids got older. Lately, I'm struggling to win, and I love it.

2. My Mother-In-Law, who I considered my other Mother. A great person, took me in as a son, and is a better person than ALL of us. She died of the same cancer. I was holding her hand when she passed in my house. It's unlikely that I'll ever meet someone as pure and good as her, but I strive every day to live up to that standard.

A late Felician sister (nun) aunt, 1915 - 1997, died of pancreatic cancer. It was very advanced when they did exploratory surgery, and she died the next day. They said she must have been in excruciating pain. R.I.P.

I believe Jeopardy and WoF are a great simple way to keep your mind active and get some mental exercise.

My wife also does a lot of crossword puzzles and other word and numeric games. I don't.

We do play Trivial Pursuit a fair bit. Fun game. I lost yesterday. Nothing new there.

I read how he spent his last day, and I must say, that is a nice way to go out.

His wish was to sit in his back yard swing and just stare at the horizon.

The man was a legend, even in life he was larger than life. And he had an amazing presence. Now he’s truly legendary RIP Mr. Trebek.

Sort of strange watching Jeopardy knowing that Trebek passed away.

The tribute on the show Monday by the producer was well done. They darkened the set after and I about cried.

SIL and MIL don't like him, and they won't watch.

Watched a couple of minutes of Trebek hosting Classic Concentration this afternoon. It was from 1988 and looked so dated. That is the year Nan and I met.

On talking way, way too fast ... Nan's church bible study has done several books by Adam Hamilton. There are videos that accompany the weekly sessions. He is a very poor lecturer.
Talks like he has a train to catch.

Talks so fast that you lose any message he is trying to communicate.

The opposite of Jacob Bronowski's early 1970s 13-part documentary "The Ascent of Man" where lectures are measured, deliberate, and thoughtful. They are available online and excellent. I have watched a couple, and want to watch the rest.

New shoes take a while to break in. You can bet he has the blessing.

I think Ken loves Jeopardy like Alex so that will make him a great host. He for sure sounds a bit rehearsed and formal, like he is trying REALLY hard right now. In time I am sure he will relax and be better. Who wouldn't be nervous replacing such an icon!? I just hope the show is filled with someone who loves it as much as Alex did and Ken definitely does! I am so curious to see who the other guest hosts are. I actually think while he didn't went the greatest of all time Buzzy would be a great host!
