I’m cautiously optimistic about the data coming out from Pfizer and Moderna. Let’s keep in mind that this is still company data and hasn’t been peer reviewed.

We need to let the data review board do their job.

But having said that, if the FDA clears it and Collins, Fauci, Osterholm, and the Governor review board of the northeast consortium all say it’s safe and effective then I would very much like the vaccine.

As John pointed out, I’m also probably not in the first few waves of people who will receive the vaccine. I’m hopeful that doses might be available for me in May or June.

But a lot can change between now and then, and there’s still a great deal of data to gather and analyze.

I was reading about it. Guidance is to get the two-shot shingles vaccine even if you had the earlier vaccine.

A couple of the guys from my wife's previous church that I would meet for coffee on Friday morning have had shingles. Not fun.

My wife and I had the shingles shot two years ago. We both felt like we had the flu for 3-4 days after the first one. The second one three months later was no big deal. Arm was a little sore for a day, that was it

The shingle shot is nasty but not as nasty as the disease. What i think is really bad is when the pharmacy offers to do your flu shot and the shingle vaccine. That is really hard on your body. I guess the thought is that you will survive, not that you will feel well. Just a word of caution not telling anyone not to take the shots. As for COVID vaccine - as long as the docs say its good I'll be the first in line.

I had the second shingles shot at the same time as the flu shot this year. I woke up in the middle of the night shaking with chills and sweating. I was tired in the morning but otherwise ok. I'll take that over getting shingles. Shingles is no joke. I've seen a few people get it including my Mom when she visited us in Nags Head.

I'll get the Covid vaccine when it is available to me.

Well ok then, now I have to get the shingles shots. I'm not quite 50 though and never had chickenpox, at least I don't think I have. I'll have to ask about at my next checkup.
