When the Vaccine is offered will you take it? If No, why.

Just for the fact I personally know someone who is a lead scientist on it I would in a heartbeat

Probably not. Never had a flu vaccine in my life. I had the WuFlu, was asymptomatic, so it's no big deal to me.

Yep. I registered to participate in a vaccine trial, but there were no locations near me enrolling.
Got my flu shot in September

Huh? You say "there is no place for a national politics discussion on this Outer Banks website"? Why do you consider this to be so? It could become that if posters hijack the thread make it be.

I probably won't be eligible for the first phase anyways, but I won't do it until it's been around for a few months. But yes, I'll get it.

You really don't know? "Wuhan Flu". Another (unofficial) name for Covid.

I’m cautiously optimistic about the data coming out from Pfizer and Moderna. Let’s keep in mind that this is still company data and hasn’t been peer reviewed.

We need to let the data review board do their job.

But having said that, if the FDA clears it and Collins, Fauci, Osterholm, and the Governor review board of the northeast consortium all say it’s safe and effective then I would very much like the vaccine.

As John pointed out, I’m also probably not in the first few waves of people who will receive the vaccine. I’m hopeful that doses might be available for me in May or June.

But a lot can change between now and then, and there’s still a great deal of data to gather and analyze.

Got my flu vaccine at my physical last month. Will take COVID-19 vaccine as soon as it is offered to me.

FINALLY also got a shingles shot when I had to go back for an EKG. Second shot in January. Had been waiting for the shingles vaccine for a long time.

Yes, with a grateful heart for all those who have participated in clinical trial studies.

I am due for my second shingles shot now. Not looking forward to it, I normally do not have a reaction to shots, but that one got me for about a week.

I was o.k. Just a little tired and queasy.

I was reading about it. Guidance is to get the two-shot shingles vaccine even if you had the earlier vaccine.

A couple of the guys from my wife's previous church that I would meet for coffee on Friday morning have had shingles. Not fun.

The Cafe section is for anything NOT OBX related. This post is not intended to be political. I created it to take a survey as to how many people will take it and for those that won't why won't they. Just curious.

My wife and I had the shingles shot two years ago. We both felt like we had the flu for 3-4 days after the first one. The second one three months later was no big deal. Arm was a little sore for a day, that was it

The shingle shot is nasty but not as nasty as the disease. What i think is really bad is when the pharmacy offers to do your flu shot and the shingle vaccine. That is really hard on your body. I guess the thought is that you will survive, not that you will feel well. Just a word of caution not telling anyone not to take the shots. As for COVID vaccine - as long as the docs say its good I'll be the first in line.

Last month I did the flu shot and the 1st shingles shot at the same time. Flu in the right, shingles in the left. Only problem was some pretty good pain in my left arm from the shingles shot. Day by day it got better and was gone by day four. My brother in law had shingles and I knew I didn’t want that.

When I see data that the Covid vaccine is safe, I’ll roll my sleeve up.

I had the second shingles shot at the same time as the flu shot this year. I woke up in the middle of the night shaking with chills and sweating. I was tired in the morning but otherwise ok. I'll take that over getting shingles. Shingles is no joke. I've seen a few people get it including my Mom when she visited us in Nags Head.

I'll get the Covid vaccine when it is available to me.

Well ok then, now I have to get the shingles shots. I'm not quite 50 though and never had chickenpox, at least I don't think I have. I'll have to ask about at my next checkup.
