My worst offender appears to be the USPS. One package has been "OUT FOR DELIVERY" to my OBX address since last Friday. Another USPS package I mailed with "2-Day" deliver took 5 days to travel from the KDH Post Office to Raleigh where it then started its journey out of North Carolina. I just glad we have no little ones that will be disappointed Christmas Day.

I had an order shipped 2 day guarantee. I got the confirmation it was shipped and on the way within hours. It was due in on the 21st. I looked on the tracker and it is still in the FedEx warehouse in New Jersey, where it's been since the 18th.

I did call and had the extra cost for expedited delivery refunded, however. But FedEx simply said they didn't know when it would be delivered.

I sent a package via USPS to VA on Dec. 4th. It left KDH that afternoon and arrived at Raleigh on the 8th. It departed from there on the 12th and has been "in transit" ever since. My sister sent packages to us here in KDH from that same VA address. They arrived in 2 days.

Our experience is that UPS is awesome on Hatteras (our driver is ALWAYS smiling, leaves treats for the pup, super cool guy)....

But shipping times to the island are a schit show...totally random...it's not just a 2020/Holiday thing

I have read so many awful stories about these delays, crazy transits to and from varying locales, and stagnant no movement of packages. I thank my lucky stars that mine all arrived, cuz this is the predicament I generally would find myself in. I did my ordering early, early to mid November, so maybe that helped with the proper delivery times I got. Thank goodness! My heart goes out to any kid whose gift is in limbo. 2020’s been bad enough without missing something from Santa.

The USPS Distribution Center, in Linthicum (Baltimore) MD has been a sticking point for Mid-Atlantic shipping. I've has a couple of priority mail packages languishing there for ten days. One of them moved to a Virginia Center yesterday and is showing "out for delivery" to Bristow, VA. today. The other one hasn't budged and will not be making it to Austin for Christmas.
They've had some people that don't want to come to work at USPS facilities due to COVID fears. My FedEx packages made it to sunny Florida in two days as promised.

"USPS refused to release any statistics to CNN on mail volume or employee coronavirus quarantine rates but APWU National president Mark Dimondstein confirmed to CNN that there are now upwards of 18,750 USPS employees across the US on the quarantine list every day.
In comparison, there were around 8,000 on the daily quarantine list before Thanksgiving, he said."

"Even if private shipping companies like Amazon, UPS or FedEx handle a package, they frequently utilize the USPS to handle the "final mile" and actually deliver it to a customer. Unlike the private companies, the USPS delivers to every address in the US."

We had a package lost via Amazon Prime (using Amazon's own delivery) and Amazon reported to us that the package was assumed lost. They shipped a replacement that arrived promptly. I mailed a check to someone who lives ~15 miles away and it took 5 days last week. I caught on the radio yesterday that USPS was ~75% of mail being delivered on time this year which is down from prior years. They said increased online shopping during the pandemic is part of it.

I've also noticed in recent years increased use of rental and personal vehicles. This year is insane in our neighborhood. The usual UPS driver is nowhere to be seen and some other UPS guy is delivering out of his personal SUV. I've seen a lot of unmarked vans/box trucks this year used primarily by FedEx I believe.

2 packages. Both have already been refunded. The USPS one looks like it wasn't shipped (but the seller said it was). The TBA shipping one stopped tracking in Teterboro, NJ.

All of the gifts I ordered from Amazon shipped early and are under the tree. Gifts mailed USPS from Currituck to me in VA won't arrive for Christmas. It's the thought that counts Merry Christmas to all.

About 10% of our online orders haven’t come in yet. One is stuck with USPS in a sorting facility and another with UPS is stuck in NJ.

I’m a little cranky about the UPS order as it’s an N95 Envo that I wanted to give to my mom.

It’s not the end of the world or anything, and this is off topic — but I’m pretty grateful that we don’t have any kids.

2020 has been hard on us, but I can’t imagine how tough this year must have been for folks with young kids.

All the carriers are above max capacity. This isn't just a USPS problem. USPS has the extra burden of being the final mile carrier for a lot of the packages.

USPS employee's are doing a great job in a year where online ordering is way up and this is in defiance of the cut backs they've had to burden. Not to mention the whole COVID-19 thing...

A USPS flat rate box I sent to my sister got there one day later than the post office kiosk said it would arrive. To me that is a victory. On the other hand I ordered something from a local shop on 12/14, it arrived at a postal facility in FLORIDA a few days later, I am in a suburb of Baltimore. A friend ordered fudge from Scotch Bonnet, Frisco, NC, The box arrived at a USPS facility outside DC within four days, not bad so far but that box hasn’t left DC since. The friend also lives outside Baltimore.

Now a few years ago UPS screwed up a package sent in October. It went Buffalo to Baltimore with no issues but then they redirected it to Chicago with no explanation. They knew it was headed to Chicago but said they couldn’t get the package off the truck until it reached the Windy City.
