I know what you mean lowtide. In the good old days of this board, the regulars (and Will) would not have put up with the antics of some of the new members who think they own the board and wrote the TOS. The flagging feature was fine when left with trustworthy people and monitored for abuses. Now, it is a tool to silence those who the snowflakes disagree with.
Like society today, I guess it is too difficult for these to ignore and (figuratively) turn the page; they don't have the self control or maturity to do that, so they silence all differing views. They are obsessed with identifying, branding and deleting whoever they consider "trolls."
Pathetic. It will be the demise of this board.
For the record I have never used the flag. One of the tenents of my generation was freedom of speech.I have been in disagreements over the years about various issues on this board and for the most part they have been civil, adult, and educational. In some cases have made me reassess my position. Unfortunately over the years this board has gained a few newer members that believe it is acceptable to become rude, vulgar, personal, immature when they disagree. I don't flag them, I either ignore them or respond. But I don't blame others who do flag them.
