I have 5 Rods set up in my beach buggy.

Two long rods, 10.5 and 11 Feet to get out beyond the second break.
One 9 foot rod to place in between the 1st and second break,
A 7 foot rod to fish a jig or plug with
A 6 foot rod to fish from a Pier or Dock.

Depending on the surf conditions depends on what I may use. I have a lot of luck fishing something called a Chincoteague Rig. 2 or 3 ounces depending on the surf conditions. Caught a number of Stripers this fall on that set up using Shrimp as bait.

Sting Silvers for Spanish mackerel, bucktail Hopkins lures for blues, yellow jigs with red heads for trout in the sound

I second the Hopkins lures.

Hopkins lures have proven themselves as fish killers. They probably have been around 50 or more years. Stainless hammered finish, no rust, no finish chipping. Personally since the big Blues and Stripers have been gone I limit my inventory to 2 oz or less. Sting Silvers are a Southern Tradition but really only have action if you work at it. They are heavy and can chip. To me they are better boat fished as a jig almost straight up and down. Just my opinion. I also like some old style "Pencil" jigs if you can find them. With a buctail hook they are great for Flounder. The closest look to a Minnow.

i only use Sting Silvers when the 'macs are running, & you can't use a swivel - tie them directly to the line. (their eyesight is that good!) i'd have to open my dusty tackle box to see what all's in there - i'm primarily a bait fisherman. i've used some Mirro Lures
with some success. as with jigs, lure color can be very specific to time of day, weather, etc. find some you like & experiment. the boys @ the tackle shops can help with that. good luck & tight lines!
