Hi you are right if you are staying in Corolla you have to come one hour South to one of the three major marinas. There is no access to the Ocean until Oregon Inlet 45 Miles South of Corolla. The three Major Marinas are (In Alpha Order - OBX Marina in Wanchese, OIFC on the NPS Property below SNH and Pirates Cove Manteo). In my over 50 years in the business I like all my Customers to know what to expect. Half Day "Inshore", some boats use "Nearshore" can be a lot of fun. We use the term to be a 4 or 6 Hour OCEAN TRIP. Most boats use the terms interchangeably but some only only do Sound Fishing, especially some small open outboard skiffs. Currently, the Ocean waters are cold and Ocean Inshore slow, but things change from day to day. Your typical Inshore catch is small fish 2 to 5 lbs such as Bluefish, Spanish Mackerel, False Albacore and occasionally Ribbonfish. Lots of fun. In addition our Cobia season (Mid May and early June) is starting but this is specialty fishing. Not every boat will fish for them and your catch is not guaranteed. Cobia are a prize catch and can range from 10 to over 50 lbs. Between the three marinas and some trailered boats you probably have over 75 Charter Boats of all shapes and sizes. Some only do Offshore, some only Inshore, some both, some only Sound. Full Sized Boat Prices can range from $550 to $800 for a 4 Hour Trip. Sound boats will be about $450, but many can only take 4 people. I do not advertise on the Connection but will send you a PM on my Boat. Good Luck.
