Yeah, I know, the guy with the horns was scary. But it was time for Byrd to holster that weapon. Big tough cop dude didn't need to shoot an un-armed lady just because she was climbing through a broken window. Crap, he could have beat her over the head with one of those chairs for God's sake.
Un-warranted use of force in my opinion. Anywhere else in this country, you would be in agreement. Byrd will have to defend himself from civil lawsuits brought by the victims family.
We'll just, respectfully, agree to disagree...it's not about the other dumbschit "attendees" like organic food horn boy, edward scissor hands, nor the "hang x y or z" chants. The officer, sworn to protect legislators from all harm, had orders to hold that line. "Having a conversation” with an intruder, who crossed THE line, sporting a significantly sized back pack (just a little RDX goes a long way) just wasn't an option.
All in all a super effed up day.
EDIT- re Mike L (as that was the original thread topic
) no comment on the individual, don’t know him - his recovery is an inspiring story, but his pillows? I tried to like them, really tried. Awful.
