While the goal 20 yrs ago may have been just and noble , the mismanagement of this effort through the last 20 yrs is a sin . I respect the lost American lives just as I do in Viet Nam but we as a people will never learn , we are not the worlds police man . We spent over 700 billion dollars in that cesspool and the Afgan troops never accepted their role in protecting themselves ! We got played again !!We got Bin Laden and we should have left then . Now I know Sleepy Joe will get hammered on this and he should but every President down from GW,Obama and Donald all bear some blame on this .Watching the evacuation looked like a repeat of the fall Saigon , we will never learn !!

dizzyizzy - there is a way to end it. and a way to end it right.

Remember when a great American President said he would not publish the date of a withdrawal so as not to embolden our enemies? Remember when that same President was criticized for "negotatiating" (from strength) with the Taliban? And when our own past, and CURRENT, Military Leaders recommended a phased withdrawal to protect the Afghan people and our direct military supporters and Aliies?

Joe is on vacation, eating pudding and jello, during this debacle, It's being done on his watch. It's all on "him" (but mainly, on the currupt and inept Liberal Democrat Party Administration.) And we are much less safe as a result.

THIS is an impeachable offense.

The US utterly screwed the Afghans over on the withdrawal It started 5 months ago and crashed into a complete failure of planning. They have had 20K+ people on the SIV list and knew this day was coming but have done NOTHING to get them out prior
The withdrawal was supposed to follow steps that as the Taliban had to follow as the US drew down they Taliban brokle accord after accord and the US still continued to draw down giving them pass after pass as afghans continued to die in the fighting this spring.
The real equalizer was airpower. US supplied equipment and coverage kept the Taliban out of populated areas. The US contractors who were supplying the maintenance on the aircraft and drones were doing herculean tasks trying to keep the 47 blackhawks and Tucano COIN aircraft the US gave to them running and last I was told just over 20 blackhawks were still flyable and most grounded from no spares or damage too great to be airworthy. The US just up and pulled the plug and left Bagram air base in the middle of the night of 7 July 2021 and never even told their Afghan allies on the base they were leaving just poof gone and the Afghans figured out a few hours later the US forces had just evaporated. (see attached link)
Click to follow link...
The troops and security police were not paid for the last 2 months. Then their president hauls out at 0 dark 30 to fly away to Uzbekistan.
With leaders and allies like that I understand why they gave up.

Joe was the sucker Trump left it to. Nothing has changed in the last 5 years. Donald had a plan, get out when he's not in office. It was a **** show from the beginning. Will make them a democratic society........LOL

Afghanistan is not a country but a collection of different tribes. The army was not really paid. The leadership scammed the money the grunts got peanuts. They ran out of food and ammunition. This is a travesty stemming from the king on down. The military-industrial complex got their juice out of it.....disgusting

Diz, Since you are anti-vaxx, try the pill form or get therapy for your TDS.

From Psychology Today:

"The name itself explicitly suggests a "syndrome," which the Oxford English Dictionary defines as "a characteristic combination of opinions, emotions, or behavior." Several commentators have run with this, putting forth suggestions about opinions, emotions and behaviors characterizing TDS.

Shared amongst these is a notion that the everyday activities of President Trump trigger some people into distorted opinions, extreme emotions and hysterical behaviors. Well-known writer Bernard Goldberg gives supposed behavioral examples of TDS among Trump’s political opponents, including fainting, vomiting, students retreating to "safe spaces" and others demanding "therapy dogs." Political commentator Justin Raimondo focuses on opinions, language and cognition, writing in the LA Times that "sufferers speak a distinctive language consisting of hyperbole [leading to] a constant state of hysteria… the afflicted lose touch with reality.""

Sure, just pull the plug and take the troops home and leave the American citizens behind. Not only is he proving to be a poor President, he's a sorry excuse for a man.

I meant "plugs" in the sense that Rush Limbaugh called him that since biden used to be bald and he now has hair. Biden is a moron. I try not to get into these political posts, but cannot believe he had no strategy for getting those poor people out of there. Just so worried that the US will be thought of as weak and we may be hit again.

Please let the bone spurs thing go! I can't stand the man but why is Biden given a free pass on his multiple deferments?
Asthma, really C'mon Man! He was a football player and lifeguard.

USA TODAY
Fact check: Biden, like Trump, received multiple draft deferments from Vietnam

Our rating: True
Based on our research, the claim that Biden received five draft deferments is TRUE. He was granted five deferments as a student before he received a medical exemption for asthma. Similarly, Trump was granted four deferments as a student before his exemption for bone spurs.

The plug was pulled months ago, everyone knew what the withdraw date was going to be. They were warned, told to get out weeks ago. So I guess lots of them didn't believe it or wanted to wait until the last minute

Really? REALLY? You are going to blame American Citizens (who are the victims here, along with our Afghan friends, Allies and our entire Foreign Policy credibility!) for a failure to plan adequately that there would be NO PLAN to ensure their safety or secure transit when the Biden Administration dropped the ball on orderly evacuation? Are you serious? Blaming the victims for this atrocity?
Shame on you Laszlo.

No, I'm blaming the former and current administrations. My god son is a Marine and was working with a group of NGO's. They were told to get out ASAP Two months ago. He said, everyone one the ground there either new or should have known what was going to happen. We are leaving..... and without us there the Taliban is coming in. Their is a lack of plans to get you out, a Huge ball was dropped. At the end of the day its our governments responsibility to safely get out every American citizen and those who helped them and want to leave
