I also have a Sigma 150-600 and have a B+W polarizing filter. I mainly put the polarizing filter on my lens when shooting around water as it reduces the the glare......also in landscapes when I want a deep blue sky. Of course you have to change your settings to compensate for the reduced light entering your lens.
I also have B+W UV filters for all my lens.....mainly for lens protection. Yes we all the know what many pros say, "never put another piece of glass in front of your lens". I do not see any significant difference in on or off.....note:I am not a professional photographer. For me, if you buy a good UV filter it could save your lens from serious damage and also lengthen its life. Everytime you clean your lens you remove some of the coatings and there is always the possibility of scratching it. Scratching a $100 UV filter alot less painful than your $1200 lens.
