I just finished this recently released book by John Railey and boy was it fantastic! I couldn’t put it down!
If you are an AG fan and love Manteo/Outer Banks this is the summer read you’ve been looking for!! It will make you love both even more. So many interesting details of Andy’s life and the town. He loved Manteo!

I’ve been to Mt Airy. It’s a lovely town and it has a nice AG museum, but I’m definitely of the opinion that Mayberry is more Manteo than Mt Airy.

What ever happen to Andys wife, Opies mom ?

I think in one of the episodes (maybe “Opie the Birdman”) Andy told Opie that his mom had died when Opie was just a tiny baby.
