Our leaders are thinking of developing this site for "essential housing". No doubt they can find someone to develop the land. Unless it is developed as rental property I would think it'll be hard to keep it affordable in the future if the units are sold & resold.
The Outer Banks Disc Golf Club posted about this yesterday on their Facebook page. If you've never played disc golf there before it's absolutely amazing. The course is wonderfully maintained; they have work days all the time to keep the property safe, accessible, and beautiful. It gets a LOT of traffic, too, and is very popular with many residents. I joined the club in January and played through April and every time I went out there, regardless of the time or day, there were people playing and welcoming a solo player into the group. Every Sunday is either a doubles or tag tournament and even in the winter there would be 25-50 people out. The property is serene. The live oaks and pines are a nice respite from hot or windy conditions. I encourage all to go out to this property and take a walk around and please reach out to the Kill Devil Hills Commissioners and voice your opinion if you feel this last undeveloped tract of land should remain natural.
