44-acre Kill Devil Hills site eyed for housing

Our leaders are thinking of developing this site for "essential housing". No doubt they can find someone to develop the land. Unless it is developed as rental property I would think it'll be hard to keep it affordable in the future if the units are sold & resold.

It's owned by the town so they could "give it away" if they want. Interesting to see what happens.

That property looks like the Bridge and Creek at Billy's Seafood. If that property is on a Navigable Waterfront Creek with access to the Sound, it will never be "Affordable" housing!

It is nowhere near Billy's but it does touch the sound. It is closer to Bermuda Bay.

The Outer Banks Disc Golf Club posted about this yesterday on their Facebook page. If you've never played disc golf there before it's absolutely amazing. The course is wonderfully maintained; they have work days all the time to keep the property safe, accessible, and beautiful. It gets a LOT of traffic, too, and is very popular with many residents. I joined the club in January and played through April and every time I went out there, regardless of the time or day, there were people playing and welcoming a solo player into the group. Every Sunday is either a doubles or tag tournament and even in the winter there would be 25-50 people out. The property is serene. The live oaks and pines are a nice respite from hot or windy conditions. I encourage all to go out to this property and take a walk around and please reach out to the Kill Devil Hills Commissioners and voice your opinion if you feel this last undeveloped tract of land should remain natural.

OOPS! I got it know........Run Hill .....My first house (late 70's-early 80's) was on 8th Ave off Airstrip Rd and we used to explore that area when it was a big sand dune before the school and others were built. Nice property with Sound access!
