Manteo Christmas house tour

Wondering if anyone has done a Christmas house tour in Manteo. I’m thinking about coming down for it.
What houses are usually included and how many? I’d love to see inside and hear the history of some of the lovely homes we’ve often admired on the many walks through the town that my husband and I have enjoyed.

I have not, but there was an Inn Crawl one First Friday that we went to and it was awesome. Most (all?) of the inns in town opened their doors and had refreshments. They took us into rooms that were unoccupied and all around the property. The White Doe Inn was our favorite. If you get the option to tour the house, go for it.

Thank you Mstazew and ez!
We’ve stayed at the Tranquil House a couple of times and loved it. Especially our most recent stay last month. The renovations are beautiful and it was squeaky clean.
I’ve always admired the White Doe Inn, so now I think we’ll give it a try!

We also frequently stay at First Colony Inn in NH. And have stayed at the Pamlico in Buxton a few times. Both are lovely.

My parent lived in a little cottage in NH for 30 years so of course we always stayed there. Now that my parents and their little cottage are gone we get to stay in different areas. We miss Mom and Dad and the house terribly but are having fun enjoying places like Manteo, SNH, HI OI.

I guess I’m off subject!
It happens!

We did it a few years back pre-Covid. It was a very nice afternoon. The homes were well decorated and interesting and the homeowners were generally very pleasant.

Thank you, NightOwl
I hope we can make it down for this event.
I’d love to see the Elizabethan Gardens all lit up too. I hope I can talk hubby into it.
We already have a trip planned for early February.

Do you remember if the homes were mostly in town?
Also will parking be an issue?

Depending on what you mean by "in town," yes. Mostly in the older part of Manteo around the business section and to the west of it.

A fair number of people went on the tour, so parking (on street, of course) could require you to park away from the house. There were some houses close enough together that you could park at one and walk to another. But the distance was never very far.

The best plan might be so come early and start in the middle of the list of homes. Or come toward the end of the day when the people coming to look will drop off some.

Thank you, NightOwl.
I’ve been to a couple events where they were shuttling folks to the event from a remote parking area. Best case scenario we can get a room one of the inns in town.

So , supposedly "because of Covid" they won't be serving any food or refreshments....

Yeah, not the kind of people I want to hang out with or support.

Sorry to hear of this. Holiday treats always add so much to the festivities! I’ve had close contact exposure so many times over the last couple of months that I’ve lost track. My doc says I have good solid natural immunity from the case I had in May. It was the one and only time I had the darn thing so far. Just a bad sore throat and fatigue.
