Is the laundromat business considered profitable?

Hello everyone, I'm considering investing in a laundromat in OBX and I'm curious about the profitability of such a venture. Can anyone who owns or has owned a laundromat in the area share their experience with me? What kind of profit margins should I expect, and are there any particular challenges unique to the OBX market? Thank you in advance for any insight you can provide!

With an ultra-high success rate of 94.8 percent, a cash-on-cash ROI of 20 to 35 percent and a simple management structure, laundromats are an attractive investment, regardless of the economic landscape...

The biggest thing is you need to know your market. How many full time residence don't have a washer and dryer? How many people live in apartments that don't have W/D on site?

Laundromat / Bar & Grill, big screen TV and pool tables. Might turn a profit.

I think you are into something, xsthomas. I go to the laundromat to wash my big comforters and blankets in the huge commercial sized washers. A cold beer and a side of chips and guacamole sure would make the time go by very well!

There was a place at WVU when I was there called Suds & Suds that was a laundromat with a bar, TVs and pool tables. It always had customers when I used it.

There may be a big demand for laundry drop offs so customers can be at the beach instead of spending time in a laundrymat. Could be worth paying a pretty premium.
