I swore I would never venture north of Kitty Hawk Road on a weekend let alone a holiday weekend. I drove up and back to Moyock with no delays. Crossed the WMB at 11;00 AM heading up and back across WMB around 2:30 PM. Now had there been an accident that would be a different story.

Tim I apologize for snickering at you when you would post about the absence of traffic delays.

I would venture across on a Sunday but never Saturday until about 5 years ago when it all started to change. I see a lot of cars leaving the Kitty Hawk area heading west on Wednesdays and Fridays along with the more common Sat and Sun turnovers. I think a lot are the VRBO's and like those that made it change from Awful Saturday traffic to what we have now.

It might be easy going up north but it sure seems slow going in town. Since it’s Memorial Day weekend and the weather is not very friendly, the Bypass and the Beach rd are both packed to the gills with visitors seeking alternate entertainment. Local travel timing and routes adjusted accordingly. Side benefit is that it’s been nice and peaceful out on the water, …..well except for the wind noise

Glad you had a good drive. I was just little north on Centerville Tpk. at the Battlefield Blvd. intersection going south at 4:00 PM waiting for the light. Looking north up Battlefield the traffic was backed up as far as I could see. Most of the cars had roof top carriers and fishing rod racks, so thinking they were trying to avoid the toll on the way to the beach or commuting home from work.

The least expensive gas I’ve seen in Currituck this weekend was $3.09
I think the BP across the WMB was $3.09 so you won’t have to drive far to save .20+ per gallon over OBX price fixing.

I made 3 round trips to Moyock this holiday weekend, Sat-Sun-Mon, and enjoyed smooth sailing each way. I'm still in disbelief there were no delays. I remember the old days of 2 lane roads from Chesapeake south with hours long delays when there was an accident(s) and sloooow crossing the WMB.
I saw at least 3 NC State troopers working the route today with unlucky drivers pulled over so watch out.
