Any good restaurants in the Tri-Villages?

Staying in Salvo in two weeks... any good restaurant recommendations in Rodanthe-Waves-Salvo area?

Better options in Avon?

I'm guessing there are still a lot of staffing issues?

Restaurants in Tri-Villages are average at best. Waterman's Bar and Grill has a cool atmosphere and great views, but the food is average.

Hit Waves Deli for lunch (you can' beat their sandwiches or beer selection...(Dino Bravo and onion rings are my go-to), and Hatteras Bowls for Acai bowls. We have yet to find a better Acai bowl anywhere (including our recent trip to Hawaii).

For a good restaurant, everyone here will have their opinion, but for our family we head north or south if we are going out for dinner. Side note, we are more seafood fans who cook what we catch or gather off the docks.

I'd respectfully take issue with Sesame Tuna (raw) w veggies smiley Also Watermans can be tough when hot and little wind as the west facing (no indoor seating - at lest none couple weeks ago when last went) view looks right into the sun.

To the OP:

Mirro's does a nice job, their fish taco's "seem" to be the same recipe as previous spot ACC (Atlantic Coast Cafe)
Goodwinds is probably the most "upscale" venue - but, I have not sat anywhere but bar for a bit. Their fish tacos are also pretty darn good.
Waves Deli (mentioned) is offering up some incredible dinner specials. But, all to go.
Lisa's Pizza - is what it is. Dine in, but also deliver.
Neptunes - "dine with the locals" Karaoke Night is not for the faint of heart
And then there are the food trucks - have not had a bad experience (except running out of chicken) at any one of them ever.
And yes, as @FossilRidge says, a super shout out to/for Hatteras Bowls.

Do check opening days/times before heading anywhere...

Report back what you try!

The food truck Hoy Lechon is very very good I highly recommend it. They are open until they run out of food at lunchtime which often happens so don't wait until the last minute. The pork belly dish or the kebabs would be my top picks.

Assuming you are coming prior to Labor Day, rather than focusing on where not to eat, go to Pangea Tavern in Avon by the Pier.

They take reservations which is huge here this time of year. Only open 5 to 9 so better to call in for a reservation a day or two in advance. And if you are here 2 weeks, book one for Saturday at 5 pm. You will love how empty it is. Most folks are still traveling or getting pizza their first night.

They don't do that any longer??!! We enjoyed sitting at a table on Avon pier with a cold cold PBR! Loved watching the surf hit under the pier. Well darn! Wonder why they stopped that?

I miss the Hattersman with their cold PBRs. I hate that they closed after Dorian. So sad. We would walk down there when we had a condo at Slash Creek and that little restaurant was always packed. Hilarious with the chickens walking around in the restrooms. The owner was such a nice and interesting person!

Oh, they still do (sell PBR in cooler cans)…just no longer a dollar :/

Somebody said there was a distribution pricing issue…have no clue if true or not.

Thanks, OB! Just as long as it's really really cold! I can only drink them that way since it's not my go-to beer choice. The one dollar price was nice though!! But really cold it is good! Like to sit and watch the fishermen come through with their catch and you cannot beat the view!

I wonder if that same man is working the register at the pier.....

Just ate at Ketch 55 in Avon. Not the cheapest place in town, but good. They managed to seat 11 of us with only a moderate wait, and we had Margaritas on the deck while we waited. It was good and everyone enjoyed their dishes, including the foodies.

I'm so glad to hear that they are still good. We ate there about 15 years ago. Amazingly while there, we ran into acquaintances from our hometown. That night, they had fresh sushi for appetizers to order and it was very good.

Haven't been to the OBX for years. Just wondering if the Board Wok is still there?

Awesome to hear that...every time I drive by (on a deli run) it's "looked" closed

And another shout out to Ketch (didn't mention as the question was re the Tri) Ms Jomi manages/works her seating requirements like no one I've ever seen. And since were on other spots outside the Tri - Cafe Pamlico. Two places tops on my list Commanders (NOLA) and Cafe Pam. And just about the most gracious "give backers" on HI

I go back to the days when Top Dog Cafe was open & that was our first night at OBX dinner spot. I would sit on those hard plastic chairs in the un-air conditioned restaurant eating good chow & thinking we had a whole week ahead of us. Sweet memories.

Pretty much goes for the entire menu...fish tacos went on special (first time I've seen) sat night...sold out in under 30 min. Ms Blue had the scallops last week....and she "knows" scallops....regardless of "where" they came from she was over the moon.
